I read the excerpt that they have posted on that site, and he describes Prince as "painfully shy" eek I can't imagine someone that has sung the things he has as being shy let alone painfully shy.

A friend of mine read it and said it was great. Unfortunately, he bought his before Dez's album was available. I'm sure I could borrow his book any time I want but I wish he had the album so I could copy it. lol

I really think he is/was but he had a huge goal. His dreams were large and he was aiming for the sky. cool

I own the book and it was a fun and fast read. There's nothing scandalous here, and it's a great look at the beginnings of Prince's career from someone who was there from the start.

My favorite moments are Dez mentioning when he and Prince checked out a Stray Cats concert and the impact it had on Prince, and how Dez feels Prince got a lot of his style from him, especially the high heels.

Highly recommended.

The main problem is that Dez way too often "doesn't exactly recall" dates or events. This would have been a lot better if he'd had help from someone like Per Nilsen.
