I was there with you.

But Rusty, I can tell your posts by the thread, even before looking to the right.
Not saying that's a bad thing, or a good thing, just is.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Wasn't it an incredible show? I feel sorry for the younger Prince fans who didn't get to see that tour.It was truly Prince in his prime.

I saw all of these in Detroit except the Masonic Temple one. My memory of the Lovesexy Tour was that the first night was packed and the second night, there were LOTS of empty seats! eek

1999- rose
Purple Rain- great show...

I am so glad that I was able to attend...what else can be said as we sit here in 2008.
All I can think of is a sentimental smile for all of the Prince related experiences, even if attending a certain concert wasn't a part of the day...The music was always there. cool

Providence Controversy Tour
A life changing event. Thanks to by older brother, 'cause my parents were not taking me...
1999 Tour Worcester
Triple threat kick ass MOFO.
Purple Rain Worcester
I'll never forgete the madness for this show. I was jumping over cars to get to the ticket doors. Our seats sucked, but with the help of a girl I can't remember her name? (buzz?) we worked our way up to the 5th row! I still have white and purple steamers. I got hit by the fake giz from the guitar.

Rip my heart out - I missed a stop before he went to Euroupe in 86!

Lovesexy 3 times - CT and 2 in MA. Hard to say, but these shows put a stamp on my life foever.

Buzz was my man in the late 80's!

Muziqmkr

Rick James w/Special Guest PRINCE $10.50
Uptown Theater Chicago IL 02/28/1979
(Fender Telecaster and Gibson L6S for all you musicians interested)
Extended version of "Just as long as we're together" with Prince jumping up in the air and touching his toes during the break section before the keyboard solo. Also Prince ran back and played keyboards (clavinet) with Dr.Fink during the extended jam.

PRINCE "Dirty Mind" tour w/Special Guest Tina Marie $10.50
Uptown Theater Chicago IL 12/19/80 (official ticket stub date)
(Fender Telecaster)

PRINCE "Dirty Mind" tour second leg $9.50
Park West Chicago IL 03/24/1981 2/shows
First time I saw Prince's new guitar - Hohner Telecaster and a Red Heartshaped Telecaster later in years to be used by Robin Power's guitar player.
Short speech about a new song called "Gotta Stop Mess'n About"
Prince also did a new extended version of the song "Crazy You" where he played the Heartshaped Telecaster and did one of the best extended guitar solos that I have seen him play.
This gig had a whole different energy. Prince at this time was more of a cult following and people were definitely into the music cause there was no hype.
Prince seemed totally comfortable in this enviornment even squatting down and challenging a young woman to grab his hands while he was on the side of the stage by himself. But she freaked out and just stood there in a trance. And this woman had been know for jumping on stages of different artist including Michael Jackson.

PRINCE "Controversy" tour w/Special guest The Time $11.50
Arie Crown Theater Chicago IL 12/05/1981
Introduction of The Time. Great show and Prince changed the vibe once he came on.

PRINCE "Triple Threat Tour" w/Special guest The Time and Vanity 6 $14.50
Auditorium Theater Chicago IL 12/11/1982
Great Show and I'll leave it there.

Sheila E. $9.50
Park West Chicago IL 09/07/1984
Great Show!

MAZARATI "Players Ball" $5.96 B96 radio promtion admit two (free)
Park West Chicago IL 04/25/1986

VANITY $12.00
Riviera Chicago IL 07/24/1986
Horrible track show

PRINCE "Lovesexy tour" price unknown
Rosemont Horizon Rosemont (Chicago) IL (?)date: 09/1988?
An interesting thing that I remember about this gig is that during the intermission a lot of people left. I guess they thought the show was over because no announcement was made. Also Prince was handed a guitar improperly during a song and dropped it. This was totally the tech's fault (FIRED!)

I thought the Hit-n-Run tour was 2000...That's why I didn't list it.
