What was Prince's best biography? My favorite was "Posessed: The Rise and Fall of Prince," by Alex Hahn. To me this was far the most informative bio I"ve read on him so far. All the details about how he treated his band members, his childhood, his music and contemporaries ect. I just found it a really delightful read. I new that Prince was a control freak, but I never new to what extent until this book and I also didn't know about his admiration for his fans the way that this bio explained it.
Purple Reign: The Artist formally Known as Prince by Liz Jones was a good bio also.

dancemusicsexromance is my favorite. it only goes up through the 80s, but i like that it focuses more on the music than the revolving door love affairs (though there's plenty of that in the book, too).

DMSR by Per Nielsen is probably the best but Dave Hill´s " Prince- A Pop Life" is also worth mentioning. I like his style, it is a very enjoyable read. It may now be out of date and out of print but Dave Hill's book is still the best written biog about Prince. Dimwits who haven't yet read DMSR will insist the sorry rehash that is Possessed is worth reading, LOL
Slave To The Rhythm by Liz Jones might be another rehash but at least its entertaining rehash and I recommend it highly

I liked Hill's bio the best. As far as I recall, even Prince liked Dave Hill´s bio. I read somewhere that Hill received a Christmas card back then but I don´t remember whether it was really signed by Prince or if it was one of Prince´s mysterious surprises. Unfortunately, Dave Hill´s "A Pop Life" is no longer in print. I´m glad I bought it twice when it was still available, though one copy is the German edition with the Purple Rain cover instead of the Parade era picture.Hill´s book also gave you a good idea about the Minneapolis scene and its history and he even mentioned Sonny Thompson before he became his bass player. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
