Prince songs on new 24-hour U2 Zoo Radio

u2 have just launched a 24-hour online radio station with Radio Free Virgin - members of U2 and other musicians (JJ72, Noel Gallagher, Paul Oakenfold, Flood etc) have chosen their favorite songs to be on the first playlist. No Doubt picked some songs, including If I Was Your Girlfriend and Take Me With U by our man.

Check out www.U2.com or http://radiofreevirgin.co...adio.html# for more details.

Now if only Prince himself did something like this...

I'm surprised he hasn't. Imagine GC/P-funk, Sly, Stevie. Marvin, Time/paisley artists, and Prince songs round the clock...? Sounds like a great idea you ask me. It could be part of an npgmc bonus membership, an extra $25 -50 per year.

Please don't even suggest that. Peter Gabriel, U2, and several other artists offer this kind of thing FREE - I suggested this to npgonlineltd about three years ago, and then we ended up with the Ahdio shows, which were great, but I'd love streamed radio 24 hours a day. FREE.

You're right, but don't stations like this Zoo station or others need to pay fees now based on new FCC rules just passed?
Either way, it should've been done already. No dj, no ads, just the music.

They listed one of Prince's songs like this:

“If I Was Your Girlfriend” by Prince And The Revolution ( confuse !? )

On another tip, I like U2's Zoo concept. Still relevant.

how so? FCC doesn't have jurisdiction on the internet.

then again, under Michael Powell the FCC is a fucking joke, so you never know...

Well, maybe not the FCC, but there was a recent ruling making any Internet radio stations pay something like $.02 for every song played to their respective record companies. Sounds cheap until you think of how many songs they do play and many stations have closed down since the ruling.
