How would you judge Prince if based only on his last three albums? For the sake of this thread, totally disregard his classic albums like Sign 'O' the Times and 1999. If you only use Musicology, 3121, and Planet Earth as your sample, how do you rate Prince as a musical artist? The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Honestly... while I like these albums, I probably would never had heard of him... but that has alot to do with how I go about consumming music.
those albums wouldn't have gotten any airplay on the stations I listen to and I tend to focus energy on my local music scene. If I had heard of him... I'd like him, but probably not be really obsessed the three albums prior to that however... If those had been the first prince albums I'd heard I would be a fan and I would be making all my friends listen to him. If I had seen him perform any of this instrumental stuff live, i would be the nutcase for him that i am now

Judging purely from his last three albums, I would say that he was a deep and prolific artist that obviously knew his way around a recording studio.

The last three albums would not have the power to woo me, like the stuff that got me hooked. I would not be interested in collecting his stuff.
