Ive been listning to this song alot lately (thinking about an Ex) I really love the emotion that Mr. Prince put into this song, Everytime I listen to it I imagine that I'm singing it to my Ex.....I have the video of me all played out in my head(funny huh?). anyway, take the time to listen first to the music, and then listen to the words. This song is the bomb!!!!

Okay, I'm only 17, so, Prince is a little new in my life. I started listening to Prince two years ago, when my mom bought 3121. I was listening to it, and the track that really intrigued me was The Dance, lyrically, musically, emotionally, I loved it. That song led me to bye the Prince Ultimate album, which came out shortly after my mom bought 3121. So, I feel safe to say, The Dance, was the first Prince song, that lead me to find all the others. Now, I'm a die hard fan.And will never get enough Prince.

Abolutely beautiful and intense. My video concept for this song features a dramatic Spanish flemenco dance.

Totally awesome song. I would love to see a dance choreographed for 'The Dance'
in a video. The music evokes a tango or at least some dirty dancing near the end. The lyrics are almost 'TMI' near the end before he screams which is totally sublime. I always wonder if he's talking to Mani or Mayte or Ms Anonymous...

I have listened 2 this song repeatedly
and if u listen real well u hear
" Lisa " several times
I wonder who she is
I never hear anything about the 2 of them

I'm convinced he was talking about Mani. Shortly after 3121 was released she filed for divorce. IMO many songs on that cd was referencing her...i.e Fury, Love, Incense and Candles and possibly Satisfied and The Word.
