How can he resist?

On my way to work this morning, Rebirth of the Flesh came up on my iPod and I thought, "How can Prince resist playing fun shit like this live?" There are so many things - released and unreleased - that sound like they must be a blast to play. And the reaction they'd get from an audience!

How can he just say, "That song is dead to me"?
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Of course we would love to hear it live but this song (and other faves of ours) are not best suited for a normal arena show.

Rebirth Of The Flesh is not the most melodious and catchy of numbers, It is raucuous and funky and we love it cos it's Camille etc but I think your casual prince fan would go confused if he played it live

"This ain't cards muthafucka, this is life" wink

He did not. He released 1988 rehearsel with his tour band on NPGmc.

So he hasn't forgotten about it.

He did not. He released a a987 or 1988 rehearsel with his tour band on NPGmc.

So he hasn't forgotten about it.

He hasn't played it in 20 years...but hasn't forgotten about it? confuse

Rebirth of the Flesh would be perfect. The casual Prince fans would clue right in to the fun and excitement of it all, the same way people did when he resurrected "Shhh," I would think. People don't mind hearing some unknown songs in a concert when it's good, when the sheer energy and excitement it generates can't help but be felt. And the large number of Prince fans in the know would certainly convey that.

So many songs could fit the bill too--I'd include Shockadelica and La, La, La, He, He, Hee and even In a Large Room with No Light. And of course, I remain incredibly hopeful that sometime, some year, I will hear Prince play I'm Yours live. I am keeping the faith on that.
