Prince on DIRTY MIND I remember reading an interview with Prince sometime around ATWIAD where he said that DIRTY MIND was his most honest album. Specifically, he said that if you opened up his veins and let the blood run out you'd see the DIRTY MIND album. He said it was made with no thought to commercial concerns. He said it was basically a demo that he then decided to release because he believed in it so much. I believe in it too. That album is greatness. the music knows what your motives are when you are making it
listen to The Replacements - its good for the soul

So...my mother was right. Prince is dirty through and through...
I like that when Prince makes a record, he's true to himself and makes the music for his liking, not what he thinks the critics will like. Alot of artists waffle away and just make shit no one wants to hear and Prince stands his ground and I admore him for that. I love a Man who:

it took alot of guts after having a top 40 single the year befrore to re-invent the wheel with the dirty mind album. Prince combined funk/new wave/rock/r&b with total conviction and attitude. It's his 4th best album of all time. DIRTY MIND gave prince a vision and direction leading to purple rain. it was as if he knew where he was going from that point on ward. BOB4theFUNK

The strange comment that I have about "Dirty Mind," Is that all of the years that I have listened to that cd...I have black and white visions that come to me when I hear it...
I know that that seems strange...although...I don't get this feeling or these images when I even listen to "Parade," and the "Under the Cherry Moon," movie was in black and white...I still see colored images when I listen to this cd and all of the others...even, "For You." When I listen to "Dirty Mind," I see a house in the country...with a dirt road...and I see the inside of this country house...and I see it all in black and white...I don't know why...I just do...I know that is weird...but it's true...I can try to add color to these images...but my mind doesn't want to. I have the same exact feeling. But add to it the underground sex element. Dirty mind is pure SEX to me

^^LOL^^
I saw PR for the first time when I was 12, a friend of mine at the time urged me to see it. It was incredible for me. And then years later when I watched it with my mom, I remember warning her about all the bad parts. "Apple takes her top off..." "Morris is cursing..." "Prince is grinding on top of the speaker." I love it lol. I love a Man who:
