I like it. Wish it had a formal release. Also wish I could hear the studio version of Xenophobia, maybe as a bonus track. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. It's a good album. It's not that far removed from the 'Madhouse sound', only there's a little more 'swing' to it, and it's more of a band effort. "Xpedition" is one of his most 'out-there' tracks ever IMO. Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

I think it lacks substance somewhat after superior instrumental outings like the Madhouse project, Times Squared, C-NOTE and N.E.W.S.
Even if they are just jams, most tracks just meander, instead of hamming it up. Most obvious flaw, of course, is the fact he left Xenophobia off it. [Edited 8/11/08 0:47am]

one of my fav prince tunes since 2000 i was listening to the entire album a few times in my car last week, mostly late at night driving home. it's a lot better than i remembered it to be, and i've always liked it to begin with. my fav of his instrumental albums is still "c-note". i can sort of see how he decided to take xenophobia off the album now since it doesn't really go with the rest of the material too well. plus i think he still thought he'd re-arrange it and make it a song with socio-political lyrics. anywho, nice album that i love listening to on occasion. i'm glad he threw all those instrumental outings our way the last few years because they are a welcome breath of air amongst his other output. at least imo. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
