Back in the early 90s,Sinead was a lightning rod for controversy.Prince wasn't the only one who was pissed/offended by her bold actions.Frank Sinatra famously said that she "deserves a good kick in the ass" for tearing up that picture of the Pope during a performance.Just saying...

Am I the only one who doesn't like The Family's version of "Nothing Compares 2 U"? boxed I think it sounds dry and uneventful.I like what Sinead did to the song...she brought a little more life to it.

WHAT WHAT WHAT???? She said he tried to rape her??? ah no surely not!

disbelief One of the reasons she isn't credible is that her version of the incident changes slightly every time she tells it.

sigh This again. So in the latest version of this confrontation he tried to rape her?

Ok so let's recap: he got physically agressive, verbally abusive, held her hostage in his home (with a bodyguard as a witness), and tried to rape her. Did I get I get all the versions of this story?

And after all this, she still didn't go to the police and file an assault complaint at the very least? Why?

What do you think Prince's motivation was?

4 ruining a good song with her horrendous version of it? shrug

Or, taking a good song that prince had tossed to a side act and shown no real love for, and making it an internationally famous and loved song...
I can see why you hate....
FAMS, what a laugh...

SINEAD O'CONNOR shocked fans in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday night (29NOV05) when she blasted the man behind her biggest hit live on stage.

Performing reggae songs from her new album THROW DOWN YOUR ARMS, the eccentric Irish singer took offence when one fan repeatedly screamed out for her international hit NOTHING COMPARES 2 U.

She initially ignored the requests, until another fans screamed for PRINCE, the writer of the song, at which point she hissed, "F**k that f**king midget."O'Connor has refused to explain her outburst and a spokesman for Prince could not be reached for comment.

oh well no love lost lol lol lol

I Told U that Bitch Crazy!

How so, seems pretty acurate...

Some People are so freakin Delusional around here ...Its sad..
1st of all..Nobody cared about the song AT ALL when she released her version..
Even the original artists that sung it were washed up and forgotten !
Prince NEVER was performing the song himself..
Then after she made it a MEGA international hit..he took it back and started playing it live..personally I think it was to show the current generation at that time (that was rapidly not digging Prince anymore) that he was the man behind the song...!!!confused

sorry but i cared when she released it and i still prefer the original version over her's anyday of the week. prince started doing it probably 2 showcase 2 the world that her version SUCKED and THIS is how it should go

...and your credibility keeps slipping further down the drain...
wink

Sinead was on Oprah sometime in the last two years and she admitted that she suffers from bi-polar disorder. Maybe she wasn't on her meds when she told the story. Maybe Prince reacted to her freaking out. They tend to be paranoid and very dramatic when they are off their meds.

popular doesn't make it the best nod

so true! I bought the "Family" album because of their version. Anyway, if Prince never would have written it then ol Shine Head would never have a career in the US. She released 8 albums - who knew! She owes him some more money!

Well that's retarded logic if I've ever heard it...

All the hating needs to stop. First of all, did Prince never do ANYTHING to get attention? Uh, just his entire career, and Sinead's version of NC2U, may not be some FAMS favourite vs. it was one of the biggest hits of that year and was a critical success to boot. The album that came from is a classic and Sinead is a true artist.

She pushed the boundries of what a woman was allowed to do, say and look like in the 80's, when everyone wanted to be Madonna, she shaved her head and wore Doc Martens. If I know anything about her at all, it is that she never gave a $#&* about what people thought...and as for her being ugly, that is a matter of personal taste, but seems very crass and low to resort to that kind of commenting.THAT"S ugly. I think she's beautiful, but there are people who think Prince is ugly and freaky looking...gasp! were u aware?

I, for one, find it very easy to believe that he did what she said. She has no reason to lie, even to get attention, which is ludicrous, yeah, tell the world one of everyones favourite pop stars and songwriters is a misogynist control freak with anger issues! Doesn't seem so strange now does it? After all these years...back then I didn't want to believe that story. Now I know better.

I am rapidly losing interest in Prince and have lost an anormous amount of respect for him, for many various issues we all are aware of. From religion to the music, to controlling the internet, I'm just bored and over it. His music hasn't evolved, it has regressed. He now is just a very good old skool r&b performer in the mold of James and E W &F, et al...remember when he changed his sound every album, when every new song was a true NEW experience? I'm beginning to think it WAS Wendy & Lisa!!

Sinead rocks! She still pushes the envelope and does her thing, instead of sitting on her laurels, playing her hits in Vegas.

Well, i'm more inclined to believe Sinead's version. P being the control freak that he is, i'm sure he assumed that she would be one of the mindless bimbos that he could just control.
I hate to say it but she did do an interview and was talking about her mentel problems. and watch interviews he did with Myte, proof he was controling

We will nver know, but anything is possable, can see him doing something. He did have a rep for being meean and disrespectful to band members and those that worked for him.
