I'm going to London in a few weeks. Can anyone give me an idea as to where to go to find the widest variety of Prince and related artists stuff. I am in particular interested in Madhouse and Sheila E CD's. I am of course not interested in learning anything about bootleg stores.

Well there are the huge stores Virgin and HMV on Oxford and Regent Streets.Tower Records on Kensington High Street and just incase... Camden Market for bootlegs

I would say HMV or Tower Records

but they are also the MOST EXPENSIVE in London.

I doubt you will be finding any new Madhouse cd's.
They have only been out of print for 15 years ...

Greenwhich Market USED to be good for Boots. I wouldn't make a special trip, but if you're going to Greenwhich anyway, you know Cutty Sark and all that, then Greenwhich Market might be worth a look. I doubt they'll have any recent boots.

Camden Market is better for that. They even have Videos sometimes, I've not bought one as they look pretty crap.

Berwick Street (just off Soho) has the best CD shops in London. Mister Cd, Reckless Records and a couple of others.

Also down Berwick St. there are a couple of good second hand / collectors record shops. There's a collectors record shop opposite Camden Market too.
You'll be lucky to find Madhouse or Sheila E CD's though. I'd of had them already !

There are Exchange Stores everywhere and some of them have collectors' sections - at least the one at Notting Hill has some rare Prince and related outings upstairs. Well, the last time I was there - which certainly wasn't just yesterday.

HMV Oxford Street had import copies of at least 2 of Shiela E's Paisley park CDs when I looked a couple of weeks ago. You won't find Madhouse there though.

The best store for all that hard-to-find Prince memorabilia and releases by related artists such as Sheila E. and the like is not actually anywhere near London.
They are actually situated in Burslem, Stoke-On-Trent, and they go by the name of 'Madhouse Music'. These guys stock pretty much everything you need to have in your collection.

'Madhouse Music' famously bought the ENTIRE stock from the failed Prince business venture in Camden. These items even included the infamous bottles of the 'Get Wild' cologne (the ones with the furry tops!), as well as 'Purple Rain' condoms .

Reckless is a second hand store, split into soul/hip hop and rock/folk/jazz shops, one next to the other. Prince is in the rock section. If you are happy paying in excess of $300 for a CD which you could purchase elsewhere for $5 this is definitely the place for you.
