There IS an edit-button on every one of your posts, you know...

My picks would be;

The Time // The Time
Sheila E // all three albums, actually.
Jill Jones // Jill Jones
Madhouse // 8
Eric Leeds // Times Squared

And even though I love all the albums on my list, my favourite is Times Squared, as that was a group effort, mostly and the most amazing songs on there are the ones where they colloborated on tracks. Love the album to pieces.

I need to play it right now...

If I had to choose only one, I would go with "The Family" album.

Great from beginning to end, no filler (also the two instrumental stands out), a gem like "Nothing Compares 2 U", and in a strange way one of the fundamental stones of the growing Prince's musical skill.

To me it sounds like it was a "real" Prince album, just with guest singers instead of him.

I like them much more cuz in a way, these two track were the birthing ground of the Madhouse project and led up to MY fave side project album.

And filler? I never understood the love for The Family's version; it's hokey and awkward, nothing at all like the superb O'Connor version, that stole the song right from under Prince's ass.

Did you ever notice he always plays Sinead's version? Never his own arrangement?

I think that Sinead O'Connor (and P) version is just a different and more "conventional" rendition of the song.

I understand what you are saying, but to be honest the lone and atmospheric "The Family" version to me carries the emotional feelings that Sinead version doesn't.

Let alone the Prince "Hits" version that to me sounds like one of the worst track ever released by Prince on an official album (too "LasVegas"ish).

I really love the Jill Jones album. Pretty standard answer to this question, I know. Even though it's mostly reanimated (pre) 1999 era stuff, it's still a great album. Baby you're a trip is such a great song! cool

two of my favorites are 8 by madhouse and romance 1600 by sheila e. the self-titled first the time album and the vanity 6 album are great too. i really enjoy times squared by eric leeds as well. jill jones is only great in parts, as most of the songs are circulating with prince's vocals. the same with the family.
For all time I am with you, you are with me.
