When the legendary PRINCE, who just turned 50, throws a party, the stars turn out in force, Jet magazine reports in its issue on newsstands Monday. His royal purple-ness celebrated the release of his first book, 21 Nights, in style with a private party and a concert at his home in Los Angeles. The guests for the A-list bash included DIDDY, SYLVESTER STALLONE, BABYFACE, EDDIE MURPHY, CHRISTINA MILIAN and Dr. PHIL and ROBIN McGRAW.
"When Prince is in the room, there are no other celebrities. Not when his majesty saunters into the room," guest KARRINE STEFFANS, author of The Vixen Diaries told the magazine. "He's magnetic and electrifying. The crowd became entranced." As ET reported in May, the multiple Grammy Award winner's 21 Nights goes behind the scenes of his record-breaking, sold-out 21 concerts in 21 nights at London's 02 Arena in 2007, and also includes 124 full-color, never-before-seen photographs. "We are tremendously honored and excited by this opportunity to present this lyrical and visually rich book from Prince that captures the spirit and voluptuous sound of his brilliant 21-night residency at the O2 concert hall in London," says JUDITH CURR of Atria Books. "21 Nights is an innovative multi-media book project created by a musical visionary and uncompromising artist, an invitation to experience a side Prince has not revealed until now." 21 Nights hits bookstore shelves on Tuesday, September 9. Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..

Yeah that a bit rich but may be they are going to send you two books: read below Prince Party To Celebrate His First Book As reported by Jocelyn McClurg, USA TODAY Prince's first book, 21 Nights, is coming out this fall. And for one remarkable night, the rock star celebrated by giving a private concert for booksellers and personal friends — literally in his own backyard in the hills above L.A. The Friday night party at Prince's home was the hottest ticket at BookExpo America, the annual gathering of the publishing industry. Rumor had it that the very private star would play, but few could have predicted the hour-and-15 minute set, with a band and backup singers, free to those with invitations. He played mostly covers of other artists, from Sly and the Family Stone to the Beatles to Tommy James and the Shondells (yes, Crimson and Clover). Prince didn't take the low-rising stone stage behind his swimming pool until 1:45 a.m. Saturday, but nobody complained — except Prince himself, who had to warm his guitar-playing fingers under a heat lamp in the chilly night air. "Absolutely amazing," said Leslie Rossman, a book publicist who had seen Prince perform before, but never in such an intimate setting. The show ended shortly after 3, with Purple Rain and 1999, and Prince saying he'd kept the neighbors awake long enough. Celebrities including Olivia Newton-John, P. Diddy, Dr. Phil and Sylvester Stallone were also on hand. 21 Nights is an offshoot of the singer's sold-out 21 concerts in 21 nights in London last year. Described by Atria publisher Judith Curr as a multi-media "pictorial story" of those nights, the oversized volume features onstage and backstage photos of Prince by photographer Randee St. Nicholas, who even had access to the rocker's "sleeping quarters." Prince dedicated his opening song to St. Nicholas. The book will also feature poetry and lyrics by Prince and a CD called Indigo Nights, of after-show jam sessions. Why did the star decide to open his house to the bookselling community? "It's a way of demonstrating how much this project is his and Randee's," said Curr, who said working with the rock star has been "effortless." The publisher hopes the $50 book, due out in September, will be a holiday hit. Curr says she hopes to sell "a half million copies before Christmas." Amazon have a price promise, the price on my order has automatically adjusted to £18.99. I'd contact them if I were you. I did. They seem to have cancelled my order without telling me??? Some time ago I've asked my bank to pay by cheque. Last Tuesday I received a registered cheque (37,08GBP) from my bank by mail. No accompanying note so I didn't know if it was the orginal or a copy. I would have thought they would send the cheque directly to Amazone, not to me. The money was withdrawn yesterday. Thursday I decided to send Amazone an email, asking them if they got paid by cheque, if not I would send the one I have. And I asked them why the price was 18,00GBP lesser than what I had to pay. Strangely I coulnd't find any order in my account. Today I got this email stating they are sorry I was disappointed that they cancelled the order due to technical and human errors. The prices weren't correct and my order was therefor cancelled.... I never got any notice from the cancellation so I didn't even know it was cancelled! If I didn't ask them if they got paid already, I never would have known my order was cancelled, so unprofessional. When going to Amazone to order again (by creditcard this time!!) I see the price is still 31,50GBP. I can't find the 18,99GBP anymore.... though I saw it two days ago Am I not looking right?? I'm already getting annoyed and I don't even have the book.

Try the link below if you're having trouble. Delivery outside the UK is extra though - £4.98 to me in Ireland, so it should be similar to the rest of the EU. http://www.amazon.co.uk/2...257&sr=8-1 [Edited 8/3/08 2:50am]

I ordered again, they send me the link for 18,99GBP and I had to choose first class delivery (1-2 days). They charge 19,98GBP for that! But they emailed me that they would arrange to reduce these costs. I'm very curious now because if they don't I have to pay 41,50GBP all together so it will be even more expensive than the first time I ordered But I trust their word.

Can anyone tell me if this book is indeed delayed?
Here in Holland (Bol.com) it still says the release date is September 10th and Play.com says September 1st. I know there was talk of the book being postponed, but... is that information confirmed? Or is it just for several countries? [Edited 8/4/08 9:22am] MPLSOUND

Forgive me if this is repetitious, but been away for a while...firstly, this thread should definitely be a sticky. Secondly, given the tracklist above, can anyone ID which nights each of the tracks are from? Hope everyone is well. I think back to this time last year, heady with P in the middle of the 21 Nights, and miss it, and everyone, desperately. Sometimes, the iPod is just never enough (and people looking at me on the Tube when I follow P's "punch the sky" instruction is getting embarrassing!). When are the London orgers getting together again???? LMM x Veni, Vidi, Funki.
