do you really think R. Kelly should be lumped into that category? Between the pop and R&b charts he's had a dozen #1 hits and there will be more to come. Include 3 Grammys from 97 for "I Believe I Can Fly" among various other BMI/Songwriting honors etc and I think you have to suck it up and admit that he has been a legit force in the music biz. His collabs with Usher, Celine Dion, Jay Z etc are at least actually collabs! When Prince collabs he turns down the other artist so low in the mix you can't even tell they are on the track (see - Crowe, DiFrano etc..) And if you think artist aren't copying R. Kelly now you aren't listening to the radio. And the most

ridiculous statement

R.Kelly/R.Jelly hasn't surpassed the American R&B charts the way Prince has, which is pretty damn cruicial if you wanna call someone a success.
To the contrary, the ultimate measuring stick to an artist success is how they do in the States, hell, why do you think the British invasion of the 60's happened. YOu are entitled to your opinion but I hate seeing you make yourself look like a fool. Do your homework and take a Pop Music Appreciation class or something. Prince may end up as more of an icon but R. Kelly will not be far behind.

For someone who hates defending R.Kelly Ur sure trying your damndest! I stick by everything I've said and if u disagree then u just disagree. I listen to the radio and I listen to different eras of music unlike you who can't recognize a rip off artist when you hear one. You wanna talk Pop Music Appreciation, well you need to take an R&B Music Appreciation cuz that's knowledge U R seriously lacking! R. Kelly rips off Bobby Womack, Al Green, Wilson Picket, the Isley Bros and the list goes on. His brand of music is nothing new, he just added some ghetto rap.

You wanna bring up Grammy's and BMI? ARe you freakin' kidding me? Those awards are like the Oscars, given to whoever has friends on the inside or whoever is at the top of the popularity list at any given moment. I'm reminded of Scorsesse gettin' snubbed all those years at the Oscars but wait, using your argument, he just wasn't good enuf. As for the British Invasion, um aren't u forgetting that these were a bunch of hot white boys mixing blues and pop and giving liscense to all those horny teenage girls to EXPRESS themselves? Frankie and the Teenagers and James Brown and Little Richard had the exact same effect over in England!! Who do you think influenced the Beattles. And those men of color didn't get the promotion or the respect until decades later for obvioius reasons!! And I will take a Prince collab with Kate Bush and Chaka Khan over a RK collab with Jay Z any day of the week!

R.Kelly will butcher Prince's music and you can't deny that! And if the Ultimate Measuring Stick of an artists success is how they do in the States, then Prince got R.Kelly beat Hands, Face and Feet down!!!! time for some Staples Singers. if u don't know then ask somebody.
