Whats your source for Beautiful Ones cover then?

From the following link the author states: "The vocoder-laced "Screamer" uses a beat reminiscent of Prince's "The Beautiful Ones" as Kelly sings about trying to keep a lady friend quiet while having sex with her in a crowded house."

Mariah and Larry Dodson's son already butchered it up.

I know in one of those scenes in "Purple Rain" P had a mask onstage and R could bring his mask..... But I don't know.

That was P's song to Susannah and it is personal.

(EDIT) It has been said that this was P's song to Susannah.

I don't want to say it.... I can imagine it now.

"Ohhhhh Baby baby baaaaabee!
Don't my urine please you right.
It was so hard to aim....."

No, I better stop. But you get the idea.

I still think he sucks. His voice is weak as HELL and I've never understood his "musical" success.

As for him as a human being. I don't personally know him, but IF a fraction of what has been reported and charged against him is true, I don't WANT to know him personally.

Just MHO...

Damn Straight!! Just cuz somebody gets acquitted doesn't make them innocent anymore than somebody being found guilty automatically means they're guilty. The justice system is much like the political system in as far as who has money and popularity! Further...Musicians are not by defintion sick and twisted mentally. I don't think Al Green, Alicia Keys, the Earth Wind & Fire crew, Bruce Springstein, Sheryl Crow are sick nor twisted and I don't think my man Prince is sick nor twisted. The list is long of how many artists got they heads on straight and I don't have time to list them all. R.Kelly's hits don't mean shit because the majority of ppl buying his shit are teenagers who are easily impressed!. If he stands the test of time like Prince, Madonna, Bruce and the Beatles then I will give him props but until then - fuck him!

Lastly, not to diss R& B because i generally love it but it aint hard these days to have a hit in that style cuz everything sounds alike. We need to bring it back to the old school where R&B actually had substance, rhythm, melodies and quality lyrics. okay my fingers are tired...need a break! cool

Um, first of all to dismiss R. Kelly's success because his fans are teens that are easily impressed? That is the biggest bullshit I've ever heard. In 84 your "teens that were easily impressed" were what made Prince a superstar. And to say that R. KElly hasn't stood the test of time yet? That's more BS, he's been making hits for well 15 years! He probably has more hits than Prince! Now I am a huge Prince fan and not so much of R. Kelly but let's not be ignorant here.

PUH Leese!! R.Kelly/R.Jelly hasn't surpassed the American R&B charts the way Prince has, which is pretty damn cruicial if you wanna call someone a success. Prince is international and R.Kelly for the time being is still just national and still just R&B. As for the teenie boppers, Prince got critical acclaim and respect from fellow musicians and industry movers & shakers right from the jump! They recognized what took the rest of us years to see. He didn't rely on the teenie boppers the way R. Kelly has and still does. The teenie boppers came on board mostly by P's third album. And I'm sorry but the term "hit" doesn't mean much. Hell Eddie Murphy had a "hit". Rick Dees had a "hit". Paris Hilton had a "hit".
When U are an artist with body of work that is analyzed, respected, entered into the hall of fame and down right copied at every turn then U R beyond a "hit' maker. Prince is an icon and R. Kelly will just be that R&B dude who churns out hip hop collabs in between making pornos with underage girls.

Boy do I hate defending R. Kelly, BUT, I hate ignorant people even more! You bring up one

hit wonders

"Hell Eddie Murphy had a "hit". Rick Dees had a "hit". Paris Hilton had a "
do you really think R. Kelly should be lumped into that category? Between the pop and R&b charts he's had a dozen #1 hits and there will be more to come. Include 3 Grammys from 97 for "I Believe I Can Fly" among various other BMI/Songwriting honors etc and I think you have to suck it up and admit that he has been a legit force in the music biz. His collabs with Usher, Celine Dion, Jay Z etc are at least actually collabs! When Prince collabs he turns down the other artist so low in the mix you can't even tell they are on the track (see - Crowe, DiFrano etc..) And if you think artist aren't copying R. Kelly now you aren't listening to the radio. And the most

ridiculous statement

R.Kelly/R.Jelly hasn't surpassed the American R&B charts the way Prince has, which is pretty damn cruicial if you wanna call someone a success.
To the contrary, the ultimate measuring stick to an artist success is how they do in the States, hell, why do you think the British invasion of the 60's happened. YOu are entitled to your opinion but I hate seeing you make yourself look like a fool. Do your homework and take a Pop Music Appreciation class or something. Prince may end up as more of an icon but R. Kelly will not be far behind.
