Ex-Moderator | Prince's best superfluous "ah-ooh-wah?" OK, you know that high-pitched "ah-ooh-wah" that Prince loves to do? I was noticing it seems to be all over the place.
Which one/during which part of which song is your favorite? type-oh, schmype-oh... [This message was edited Sun Dec 8 18:30:20 PST 2002 by CarrieMpls] |

I always thought the use of it in the edited version of Sexy MF was both clever and funny.

His yelping at the end of "Glam Slam" was pretty audible. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

That's the song that introduced the Prince call of the wild..but they dont hear me though ok, the next best one is the one in Lets Pretend Were married--it equals the Sexuality one. "Climb in my fur."

i don't know which one my favorite is, but the most out of place is at the end of the live version of "purple rain" from 84 or 85 in atlanta... me and my buddy will were listening to it the other day... and it's probably the greatest version of "purple rain" that i've ever heard... and then at the end, where it's just the piano and the synthesized strings, he's starts yelling, "can you say ah-ooh-way!!?"... and we were both like ... there's just something about it that doesn't fit... I always thought it was curious that he always started the live version of Sign O' the Times on the SOTT tour with "ah-ooh-wah".
It doesn't really go with the song.

It doesn't really go with the song. I liked this! It was my most memorable moment of Prince doing that. Every time I hear him say that, I always automatically go 2 the crown in my head following him. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I like the one in "Right the Wrong" where the music stops abruptly..."Ah-ooh-Wah!" and then the music kicks right back in. Also the one on Eye Know, right after Ingrid giggles and right before he says "Welcome to the New Power Generation..." "this is where the PURPLE PARTY PEOPLE be"

There are so many ah-ooh-wah's I really like the one from "Da Bang", too.

The problem with the "ah-ooh-wah" is that it's just so damn cute!!!
He actually one-uped Michael Jackson in the weird noise department, but he made it his own and you can't help but love it...

The ones in "Sexuality" are classic. I also love the one at the beginning of "Eye Know" (It sounds like he and Ingrid Chavez had such fun) and at the end of "Come On" (a really cool way to end a song) Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
