so calling him wacko jacko mr showup2courtwithpj's is alright with u then?

geez don't call madonna madge then aight?

and b sure 2 jump on those that say that prince has a vagina etc etc ..but u want 2 get on me 4 chopping down ur "hero" by saying he's a pedophile ..bravo!!

Michael's not my hero. Calling Madonna Madge isn't off topic, it's a nickname. Prince has a vagina? That's a thing called a joke. Read up on them. Some find them funny. Ranting and raving about alledged pedophilia in a thread about a person's career? Off topic and inapprropriate.

that's my nickname 4 him then ..(tho it's more the truth along with wacko) and just cause what u find funny doesn't make it funny 2 another so u got some reading material of ur own 2 catch up on
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

If you think you must, start up another boring thread about the pedophilia issue. But keep it seperate from talking about his career.

I'm failing to see your logic in constantly dredging up a man's alledged crimes when we're not talking about them, but getting upset at humour that didn't even appear on this thread until YOU brought it up.

Growing up and going to a Sunday afternoon dance club...where the place was packed...and then through the age of twenty...I never saw anyone leave the dance floor during a Prince song, a Michael song, or a Madonna song...

All of these artist's have brought a lot to music and our dance floors through the years.

MJ was the biggest, but at least two WHOLE generations of music buyers only know him as a child abuser and wacko instead of a musician. I don't want to say he los musical relevance, a new album would cause a buzz still. He influenced many people, and had some fantastic songs. That's enough to cherish him, no?

Madonna, the most successful out of those three today. As someone said: She will not be remembered as a ral musician. But she never claimed to be one. She' a performance artist. Many people adore her and I think beside the Beatles she has the best back catalogue of all!!
Prince: The problem is, only few people rally know what he's releasing. Some might know Purple Rain, Kiss etc. and admir his musical strength, but he's not connected to the mass. But he probably doesn' want to and just wants to have fun. And that's okay too.

biggrin Wow, you really think so?

Well said. I am tired of all the comparisons between the three, although it's understandable in a lot of ways because they do have a lot in common. I truly love all three artists though. They are all talented in their own ways but it's kinda sad that they are truly the last of the mega stars. They are getting older now and it just makes me reflect a bit, I can't imagine what it will be like when they are no longer around sad. I am just happy to have been able to witness these incredible, influential talented artists in my lifetime and I know that there will NEVER be another Michael, Madonna or Prince. It's just not gonna happen. Much respect to all three.

I believe the only thing you can really compare is Prince's commercial years to M and MJ. Michael Jackson and Madonna are numbers people. Michael Jackson has clearly outsold both of them and Madonna has over the years done really well sales wise, but I don't think either one of them has taken the artistic chances that Prince has taken over the years. I think Prince will be respected more in musician cummunity but Michael Jackson and Madonna will have more with the general audience. Prince wins this hands down.

co-sign!

I may not be a big Madonna fan but I gotta admit it takes a lot to be as focused and disciplined as her (business-wise) and that deserves respect!

Plus, I can't remember any musical act from before the internet still commercially relevant after the internet (you know, when everything about everybody is common knowledge lol)

nod

Much as I love Prince, and have a healthy dose of respect for Michael and Madonna, it's a pretty depressing thought that there's no one who really follows in their footsteps. I can't think of a single artist in the current crop of performers (it should be noted that I'm 23, so yeah, I'm talkin' 'bout my generation sigh ) that will even come close to the icon status these three carry.
