TTD on His Love for Prince? "We discuss music further. He talks about Prince, without drawing breath, for half an hour. D'Arby says the first time he heard Prince's music, he felt an inexplicable connection with it. He met him and Prince "talked his ass off, nothing like you'd expect" and told him he was a poet. D'Arby kissed him on the mouth. They speak on the telephone from time to time ("although there's still very much this big brother, little brother vibe"). He's very wary of repeating verbatim any conversations they have had as "he is a man who has assiduously avoided the big-mouthed mistakes I made and I don't want to blow it for him." He winds up his Princeathon simply and touchingly, saying, "I love him. I really do."

BS,I remember a person who was there when TTD met Prince said how much of an ass TTD made of himself.
@him kissing Prince on the mouth...

i remember this. maybe a 10 year old interview. Always thought there would have been a collaboration at some point but alas Prince rarely works with his peers

TTD's story...I don't beleive it. If he kissed Prince on the mouth, then I dry himped Morris in the back of his yellow caddy in 1982.
(Which is really funky cause I was born in 1986!) It's a whole bunch of hooey, Prince has better things to do with his time than talk to him... Gosh I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me. Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots. Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol. Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol. Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

the amount of casual homophobia on this site is starting to get to me I agree. Do people forget that they are on a site dedicated to a man who wears makeup, had a woman/male symbol for a name and has worn skirts, leg warmers, panties and lace gloves. Not keeping in the spirit of Prince. Have people heard Uptown, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Sometimes It Snows in April ...

if TTD actually kissed P, it may not have been what most of y'all are thinking. it seems most of you are looking at it as thought it had been a deep kiss or something passionate. i think it could have been just a peck, like you'd kiss your father or your brother. nothing romantic.
but then i don't really think he kissed him in the first place.

Have people heard Uptown, If I Was Your Girlfriend, Sometimes It Snows in April ... ok lyrics and a stage persona is different than a lifestyle.Im not homophobic but I think Prince is straight and I think TTD is lying...so what and Prince has never worn a skirt.Youre thinking about the Lovesexy era where he wore black and white tights and it appeared to be a skirt Sinead said Prince hit her so does that make him a wife beater now? Just b/c TTD is...exscuse me...WAS famous and some of you happen to be fans of his does NOT mean this shit is true.

Who knows what's true in the celebrity world but we were referring to the "yukes", "ews" and general distaste at the mere mention of the possibility. And just because he is "straight" doesn't mean that he hasn't experimented. He's toyed with gender and sexual stereotypes and images in his art and as he has said, "whatever floats your boat." And from Row 7 at the Lovesexy concert, it was either a skirt or a cute little one piece jumper. I think he wore both!

I remember that story (including the kissing part) from about 20 years ago. 'Round yon Lovesexy era they hung out together. The story even goes that they performed together live on Wishing Well. [Edited 7/27/08 22:24pm] My Legacy

And i don't see him coming out of the closet any time soon if he is gay.. so on that point, I'm not sure that there is any point discussing it.. My complaint is toward a more general attitude on this site that homosexuality is something gross or wrong. I have no problem with people being adamant that Prince is straight. Like i said, personally, i think he is... but everytime it is brought up, or when there are discussions about wendy and lisa, some pretty uncool stuff is said, and no-one bats an eyelid. if someone says something that could be constued as rascist everyone is up in arms (as they should). When someone says 'yuk' in response to a same sex kiss, i feel the need to say something. I love the idea of Uptown and a sexual utopia. i thought that there would be more Prince fans on the org who would champion this concept and call people on making homophobic comments

I think that the point is, that even though prince may be straight, he has in the past celebrated a sexual revolution, both in his lyrics and by wearing certain clothes and wearing make-up. you don't have to be gay to be ok with it, right? ... I don't think that your a homophobe if you think prince is straight, But i think that the person who said that the kiss was 'yuk' probably is. Eddie Izzard is straight and a transvestite. I don't think it is a ridiculous notion to think that he is ok with the idea of homosexuality, and that most of his fans are probably ok with it too... With prince's strong christian beliefs (throughout his career), I am not suprised that there are a number of people who are not cool about homosexuality... but i would have thought that his image and lyrics would have attracted an equal number of sexual revolutionarys and i wonder where they all are. Finally, I sort of understand homophobia (in the same way that i understand any prejudice), I'm just suprised people are so casual in how the express it I'm going to stop posting on this... bad of me to go off topic. Sorry. (I just feel pretty strongly about it) [Edited 7/27/08 23:40pm]
