Prince Beat-Boxing?

Was just listening to a Lovesexy concert boot, and there's a vocal track labelled 'When 2 R in Love', but is actually just a vocal interlude, with beat-boxing. Does anybody know if that was Prince? The recording was from an Osaka performance if it helps.

Is there any end to his talents?

your avatar is hilarious and I'd love to hear Prince beat box. He did a pretty decent rap on Prince and the Band and I noticed he does sound effects pretty good.

Handel

His beatboxing preceding Tamborine during his last London aftershow at the Marquee was pretty good

He was found innocent. Let's give it a rest already. What does that have to do with the music anyway?

Prince often 'mouths' his live guitar solo's when he's really into it; he is 'singing' the notes he plays on his guitar.

He often does it on musical interludes too; he often 'beatboxes' melodies, Ellea Fitzgerald-like, like 4:41 into Hot Thing. During rehearsles this is also how he conveys melodies to his band, so they continue with a groove without stopping.

I've noticed the "mouthing the solo" thing, too. He treats the guitar as an extension of his voice - which I love. cool

There is a true "beat box" moment at 2:38 of Welcome 2 The Dawn.

Straight up. You have a problem. My original post about MJ was actually a joke. If u saw the " lol ". So get off your Mighty Purple High Horse. And who exactly are these other "truly gifted musicians" that are actually worthy to be discussed on this site. Are you saying that MJ is any less talented? Don't even bother responding. You have showed your character through your previous two posts...so it's pretty obvious how your next post will be. God Bless you. smile

People like you are so entertaining with these arguments. So let me get this straight before I misquote you. It is your belief that a singer who doesn't play an instrument is NOT a musician?? You're a clown.

Actually the mouthing the solo thing isn't singing of the notes. The funny faces are due to the fact that the part of your brain that controls motor skills (such as guitar playing) is very close to the part that controls facial muscles and movement. As a guitarist my self I can say it's not really intentional.

"Donkey"?! lol I've never been called that before. I gotta use that. That's a good one. I can't believe you brought up Madonna as an example. Michael does play keyboards in the studio. Just because he doesn't do it on the stage, doesn't mean he doesn't do it. Feel me? It's on his album credits that he does some arrangements.

But, we have got way off topic on this thread. Fun chattin' with ya!

His beat-boxing at a Musicology gig in 04 at MSG during Whole Lotta Love was awesome. He'd alternate between him & John Blackwell in a sort of beat boxing/drum duel. Can't say how I saw it but you can fill in the blanks..
