Lemon Crush was weak! Lemon Crush was the first P song that I flat out could not stand. He reused the exact bassline from Jungle Love, and the line "..when I'm workin' at my jobba, you're the victim.. I'm the robba." That always irked me. Adding an (a) at the end of a word just to force a rhyme? Very lazy P, very lazy. But he's allowed that once in a while because of his incredible body of work as a whole, but it was just the first , of many yet to come , moments where I just saw that the songwriting didn't measure up to his past standards. | |

It's not completely terrible, but I hear what you're saying. It does seem kind of rushed and a bit repetitive. IMO it's the only track that stops the Batman album from being one of his best ever.

No the harmonies were really good in this song, the bass line was similar, not identical to cool and junglelove, the rhythm tracks were fresh, One of my favorite off the album. | |

Are you kidding me, Lemon Crush is da bomb! I loved it from the first time I heard it and I still love it. I don't know why he didn't release this as a single. That song still makes me dance. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |

i love the whole sound of this album - i think he created a very specific style for the project, which i think also creeps in on subsequent albums (for example, i think "thunder" sounds like it could have been on the batman soundtrack). even though i know a lot of people thought otherwise, it think it complimented tim burton's style very well - whimsical and dark, playful and brooding. "lemon crush" is a great example of the style of the soundtrack, even if it may not be one of the best songs. i still enjoy it, and the silly/stupid lyrics are just an added bonus. | |
