You're a funny guy! But there's no need for the JT avator - that's below the belt.

This is not a fight or a contest, if it was Prince would have won 20 years ago when these A holes were still in diapers. Justin

IMHO Alicia Keys isn't killin' anything. My cat sings better. Wish he made as much money .....
The thing about the future you never know what is going to happen. P could easily come back bigger than ever.

I guess we like who we like...Love the music we love...and overall, I'm just happy the world does it...sings...plays...dances....and has fun...
We all get critical of this or that...and I am thankful that we do get particular about those things....It is such a great distraction from trying to compare one person from another based on anything else. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Well, depends on the definitions of 'better'. If better means being as wildly successful as he was 20 some odd years ago - that's not for me to say, but probably not.
However, if better means that Prince arrives at his authentic self and accepts the next phase of his musical manifestation, regardless of its yield - I offer a resounding, "Let's hope so."

The future can always be improved, but the past cannot be changed.

Ask yourself if Prince's history has made him who he is and will be in the future. The journey is more important than the trips that get you there. Musically all three artists you name have referenced Prince somehow and learned something from him. Music isn't solely about beats, rhythm, melody, or harmonies. It encompasses all of them. If you do it right you can even touch someones soul. I'd rather listen to Prince past, present, and future than A.Keys, Lil Wayne, and JT combined. They'll never be able to touch my soul no matter what they do.

When you have enough momentum, you can c o a s t t t t t t t t t....for quite a while, still out pacing near everyone just sitting there, with the shear force of his momentive presence .
Can the artist mentioned above do that, ….well not yet anyway, maybe one day (not likely) if they are as lucky Not everyone can create history, being the flavor of the month is a lot easier [Edited 8/3/08 14:58pm]

Absolutely...A voice is a unique gift, as is the ability to play an instrument. I'm just happy that Heaven has a band and a choir. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

This seems bizzare to me. Alicia Keys and John Legand are very talented and could possibly have long, fantastic careers in music. They still would have a long road to go before they could have half the career that Prince has had. Half of the people on the org want Prince to update his sound, and the other want to hear the old style. What the does Lil Wayne have to do with any of this? How about Soulja Boy. He is popular. Maybe you are waiting for Prince come out with "Crank Dat Purple Rain"? I am not sitting here waiting for the next "Kiss". And I don't think he is sitting there trying to write that. Peace. Love. They are digging it. This could just be a rumor though. Peace. Love. Prince

I wish Prince would have stopped trying to vie for his spot in today's musical marketplace. I wish since the early 90's he would have just concentrated on writing great songs and not giving a damn how albums/singles chart. We wouldn't have had to suffer through his 'rapping' and referring to songs as "joints" and singing/rapping into a gun-shaped mic. Prince's commercial/artistic greatness from the 80's was unreal. I wish he would look to an artist like David Bowie as an example. Bowie sold millions from the early 70's through the mid-80's. By the late 80's/early 90's he realized that selling millions was pointless and that he should just try to push himself and be innovative - i.e. be a leader not a follower. Bowie's released a number of cool albums since the early 90's. They haven't sold much but he wasn't trying to compete with Creed and Nickleback. Bowie kept his artistic reputation intact and in the process has a number of tunes that are up there with his best 70's material. the music knows what your motives are when you are making it

WT!??! Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
