I just recieved the One Man Jam 2 CDs set yesterday and I noticed,,,THINGS?? Well!!
1-Who the fuck is Willie Pepe?? Yes I read the raggedy ass liner notes, he's Prince's female-cousin's man. He took Prince ander his wings BUT why did the liner notes writer acted like Pepe is the main man behind the making of Prince?? He didn't even mention the ppl who helped Prince b4 his 1st LP(Bernadete"spilling?"-His stepfather-His father-Patrice Rushen and many others) not any single one of them. And, I don't see his name in the Hits/B-sides liner notes anywhere shit I don't even know if his name in that DMSR book or not. 2-Why did Prince take the credit 4 the whole LP when he only co-composed and pre4med ONE SONG only which is(Just another sucker). Yes I do believe that the liner notes say that Prince appeared in (Games-Betta than U think-If you see me-I'll always love[You can even hear him say "Wait a sec" in the intro] and another song(title??). But he was just a bandmate in 94 east, he played a lil' sumthin sumthin LOL not near enough 2 give him the WHOLE CREDIT 4 doing that LP. He even didn't compose A-N-Y-T-H-A-N-G beside "Just another sucker". Now how in hell could some crazy ass son-of-a-bitch give the brotha a whole CREDIT 4 his work and write his band's name in small font that you can't notice after the word "Featuring"?? How?? I kinda find the whole thang a lil' odd,,,I'm not blamed tho!! However, I enjoyed me some "If you see me" that song is my JAM, "Just another sucker" is also cool and "Lovin cup" is sexy and soothing. I didn't know that 1975 have an 80's synth sound tho So, am I the only one who's feeling this??

Pepe get's a mention in almost all Prince books, he played his part in the story.
As your realising though this constantly re-packaged LP is just a set of 94 East demos cashing in on Prince's featuring as studio musician. [This message was edited Tue Nov 12 16:12:40 PST 2002 by Essence]

There is a video release titled "Prince: Unauthorised" that has an interview with Pepe. He seems cool enough, maybe a bit of an ego, but nothing uncommon in producers. He does deserve some credit for what he did for Prince. As far as One-Man Jam (which as far as I know is just another release of 94 East), I don't think Prince had any say in it's release because Pepe owned the masters (or whatever...). But because Prince is a household name, they put his name all over the album to get people to buy it! Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

Ya know, I thought about that too. I mean the liner notes in that LP was talking about PRINCE like he played 90% of his part in this LP.

Nobody would have bought it if was a Pepe Willie album. He's just cashing in on Prince's name. But it seems like Prince remembered some of the music because "Lovin' Cup" sounds an awful lot like "If The Kid Can't Make You Come" by the Time.
