If Prince told you that the earth was indeed flat, would you almost believe him?

I think that some of the more rabid fams would.

IceNine, what is your deal? For a guy who says he hates Prince for what-ever-the-flavor-of-the-day, why do you insist being on the org?

In your 8,177 posts have you ever had anything worth listening to?

The answer is clearly, "yes."

I haven't seen any around here... in fact, there are no animals around my house other than my son's pet rabbit...

Do you know where I could purchase a few lemmings? They could be fun pets.

IceNine,
I have to agree with the sentiment of this post. I cringe sometimes when I read some posts on the org. Here's an example of answers you can GUARENTEE would appear against some questions:

Q. What's your favourite Prince song?
A. All of them

Q. What' your favourite Prince Album?
A. All of them.

Q. What's your favourite line in a Prince song?
A. All of them.

Q. Who are Prince's biggest musical influences?
A. Himself.

Q. Who are your favourite OTHER artists?
A. Candy Duffler / Maceo Parker (whoever else is piggy backing on Prince's fan base right now).

As I said in my profile, I used to consider myself to be obsessed, but a few weeks reading asome of the posts on here made me realise I'm an enthusiast at best (or worse, depending on your view point).

Don't worry about the flames Ice - some folk don't understand sarcasm ...

biggrin

I was a HUGE, MASSIVE, OBSESSED fan for years... I bought everything and traded extensively... I have about 500 or so Prince discs and all kinds of collector's stuff too, but I can laugh at myself and others and I definitely don't kiss the man's ass.

My purpose with most of my "Prince" topics is to hold a mirror up and show the "fams" just how fanatical they are about their hero.

I have to admit, I was REALLY defensive about Prince a few years ago but I finally got over it.

biggrin

Maybe others will come to understand that he is just a guy...

Well let's be honest, how many posts have you seen here exactly like what you're describing? The people who usually have those answers put them in their profiles, when it comes to answers to Prince related musical questions I've never seen answers like you're giving. Not even from Natasha, and she seems to be the biggest Prince fan here. And who exactly holds Candy Dulfer and Maceo Parker as their favorite 'Other artists' here? Not saying they are not artists, but the people who usually say anything about Maceo are the ones who answer the bandmember polls here recently and that's related to his saxophone playing. To cut it to the quick, you're exaggerating greatly (like Natasha), although I really do understand your point.

Glad you understand the point - think I was just trying to say the same thing IceNine said at the top of the post - there may not be any folk who WOULD believe that the earth was flat if Prince said so, but there are a lot of folk on here who will pretty blindly go along with whatever fad Prince happens to be on at the time.

I HONESTLY had a conversation with someone who said that they were trying to get back to the JW church, mainly because Prince had converted. And I'm sure that person wasn't the only one.

Bottom line here is that we're all HUGE Prince fans, but too many people are incapable of original thought.

Maybe that explains it better ?

Yeah like I said, I do understand what you mean. And that story about someone wanting to convert just because Prince has is sickening. Unfortunately the blind groupie mentality still exists.

You took my reply as literal to that question. I only was saying if people where stupid enough to believe ridiculous
literal comments--Prince would appear
foolish to the common folk. Since I
realize he likes to play with peoples
capacity for intellect ---I look
beyond the sometimes ludicrous comments
and strive for whats hidden.

Thank you for implying I'm as potentially
aware as Icey---obviously U aren't.
