I'm only guessing but I bet even if you're a dark skinned brotha/sistah with dark eyes you could STILL be mixed with something.

Most definitely. Don Cheadle had his DNA tested on a special that aired on PBS during Black History month, hosted by Prof. Henry Gates, along with other celebrities and Don's test showed is 13% European, now one would never guess that, but he is still identified as African-American.

Tina Turner also had hers tested and she is 33% European and the other 67% is African and Native American.

Interesting stuff. It shows that race is actually just a constuct for identity purposes. Contemporary scientists are moving away from the concept of "race." Our features (hair, skin color, etc.) are a product of how close to the equator our family lines originated.

Even the percentages that you site are still only a 1% strain of DNA that differentiates all humans.

Oh you mean "Eve".....No, seriously though, I saw the documentary on that about 4 to 5 years ago on the Discovery channel. I have the DVD, very interesting program. I am also a fan of geneticist, Spencer Wells.

Princes father was half black / half phillipino

Princes mother was half black / half italian

Those are the facts.

All of the rest is subjective perception.

I don't necessarily think John L was half-Filipino, but he could have been. I have cousins who are and one looks Filipino and lived as that, but the other is clearly Black and about the same complexion as John L. It's not out of the question. I find it less likely that his mom was half-Italian, but that could be true as well.

Yeah...so is Andre and Morris. Except that Andre and Morris are FULL phillipino. Well, phillipino and Samoan. Ya'll didn't know that? The "blododclot"..I like that...I read where P's father specifically stated that both he and P's mother were BOTH black. I don't know what that makes P but u know...that's what Prince's father said. But of course there is ALWAYS hope that P's dad lied! Right? Huh? Come on ya'll,..don't look so sad now...Keep your spirits up....Prince could still have just a little black in him. Hell, if you really really wished upon a star hard enough, you could make it so P didn't have ANY black in him at all. Wouldn't that be great?

Prince is black.. his walk, talk and style. wink No one can take that from him. He singing style is definitely influenced by R&B / Soul. I think he can look whatever way he wants to if he styles himself correctly.

Be scarcastic if you want to but, look at how racist the music industry was back in the 80's. P did not want to be stuck on the black charts so he tried to be vague about his racial background.

You don't think the guy who held 4 fingers up to Dick Clark(?) as an answer, or appeared in an interview with a scarf across his face refusing to talk, or who answered "how do you feel?" with "I feel with my hands" could have been just bored with the question and messing with the media?

LoL Not tyin 2 disrespect No group of people But let me say this. Creole isn't a race..... Most people who call themself creole that live in the USA are africans who was enslave by the french. THEY ARE BLKPEOPLE (they are lightskin and darkskin blk creole people) Understand just because a blk person is lightskin dosent mean he or she is mix. and just because a blk person is darkskin dosent mean he or she is not mix. The black race (African people) has been Mix with some of everything, mostly white and indian people. My complexion is dark brownskin (darkskin blk male) My father's mother is a white woman, his father is 3/4 blk and 1/4 white and he is real darkskin. my mother is a blk woman with darkskin but her grandmother was indian. So wht dose dat make me LOL A blk man livin in dis country lol My point Im tyin 2 make is Prince is a black man, and both of his parents are BLACK from wht I seen. He looks no different then any other black person I know. Keep N mind dat Prince is a artist who look changes up with lots of make up and relaxed hair. A lot of you people should rearch and study african people and a lot of your question and thoughts will fall N2 place. The reason why we look the way we do and come N many colors and different hair type and the reason why a lot of black in dis country have issues and act they do. PRINCE is and looks like a blk person I rest my case

LOL I want 2 add a lil something and I hope u guys read this. Just because a blk person is lightskin dosent mean he or she is mix! just because a blk person is darkskin dosent mean he or she isn't mix. people get so lost N skin color why is it so importion LoL I know blk people who was both lighskin and they had a darkskin child. I know people who are both darkskin and have a lightskin child. U cant go on complexion far as if a person is mix or pure. Let say dis all people N african wasnt all real darkskin people. they was lightskin africans be4 the mixing maybe not as much but there was some Im not sayin dat alot of dis mixin didnt help 2 bring on the mix complexion dat blk people have but we have always been a race of different complexion from light 2 dark. And mostly every black person now days has something other then black in his or her family tree Nothing if he or she is darkskin or lightskin. STUDY the history of black/african people. I read N one or many response dat no one is sayin dat Prince isn't black but wht Im readin is dat many of u are tyin 2 make him biracial and He is not. both of his parents are black and so is he!

Wikipedia has got people twisted. The man is black. Don't believe me? The man refers to himself as a "brotha" and a "ni**a" in countless songs. Not to mention the fact that he's always poked fun at white people.

As it has been mentioned in this thread, we African Americans generally have a mixed heritage due to slavery (among other things). I'm a light skined black man and my great great grandfather was mixed http://SoundGallery.wordpress.com

Prince is a shapeshifter and therefore can be whatever he wants to be at any given time. Male/female, Black/other, did you ever see him glow in the dark on stage? well he does...I googled it so it must be true. lol
