Does anyone know who wrote this song? I have been jamming to the 94 East version (instrumental and vocal) for some time. Then I came across the Prince version on the Work while playing my Prince smartlist at random.

I think I read on here once that either Dez or Andre also recorded a version of this song. However, I still don't know who actually wrote.

"If You See Me" was written by Pepe Willie.
However, "Do Yourself A Favor" is credited to Pepe Willie and Jesse Johnson

Ok, I figured those were Pepe's vocals on "If You See Me," which makes sense since he wrote it. So am I right to assume that it was Jesse who also recorded a version of the song, not Dez or Andre? I have no idea when that 94 East stuff was recorded so, I could not place who was around then to contribute in the original incarnation of the song. I wonder if Jesse was credited for "Do Yourself a Favour" because he "added" to "If You See Me." I haven't heard any other versions, but the Prince version (minus the 80's synth sound) is quite similar to the 94 East version.

Jesse recorded the song for ....I think his Shockadelica (sp?) album (I'd have to double check). It's good and sounds very similar to Prince's version. I don't think Dez or Dre ever did a version.
