Minneapolis Mash-Ups While a mash-up is typically used to described taking two pieces of pre-existing music and combining them to make a new song (say Jay Z 's Black Album and the Beatles's White Album to form Danger Mouse’s Grey Album) I’d like to take the definition a step further to include a collision of musical cultures or powerful musical entities recording or performing live together. This application of mash-up goes beyond mere duets. It’s when two or more musical forces join together and raise the level of the fan experience to new heights. So what makes for a great Minneapolis mash-up? It just has to feature your favorite veterans of the Minneapolis Sound popularized by Prince and his protégés. I sincerely believe in that concept and leave it up to the professional musicians to know how to Jam that way...
If Heaven has a hell of a Band, you can best believe there are carpenters on the floor, and Angel DJ's running the streets...and great music in the air. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight... | |
