I grew up on Michael Jackson as a kid. When you're exposed to a man who lives in make up and 40 pound rhinestoned jackets, Prince is a walk in the park. It seemd like a natural progression to me. Go from a man in a red sequined jacket to one in a purple lame trenchcoat and white lace 4 inch heels. It's a natural progression.
I was about 9 or 10 when I figured that Prince was different and kinda got a little interested in him.

Flamboyance attracts me. I like people who do things differently and go against the norm. biggrin

Prince is the man, was the man, is the damn man! guitar highfive
I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me.
Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots.
Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol.
Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol.
Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

I would say I started noticing flamboyance at Purple Rain. Before, he just seemed raw to me. The costumes got really kind of Liberace-ish starting with Purple Rain.

Just like not catching on as 11 and 12 year olds that Wendy and Lisa were bi/gay, I bet most of us also didn't understand why everyone besides us thought Prince was a bit weird. I believed that he wore high heels on the basis that he was just pretty damn short. Also, the music scene at the time with all the hair bands and such didn't make the way he dressed seem weird. It wasn't until I backtracked from 84 and saw his look from the Dirty Mind tour in 80-81 that I kinda got what other people were saying. The cover of the Lovesexy Tour program also wasn't a proud moment. The heavy girly makeup was a bit much. When did you start to realize Prince was a bit different?

Youre sounding as if him being different is a bad thing? The heels the make up e.t.c is what set him apart from alot of artists also his undeniable talent.
And he said he wears heels because girls like 'em not because hes short.
To many artists play it safe and are 'normal' which makes them..somewhat boring. Him thinking outside the box in his music and in his clothes makes him unique.

eye kno eye do!! but as far as the rest of ur post clapping
