Yeah for sure - i love this song. I would love to have it in HQ. Prince.....u promised to release this at a later date.....where is it?
Also do you mean The Line - the Boni Boyer led track? I thought Cross The Line was the ingrid chavez interlude from the Lovesexy tour? Is that the one you mean?

Maybe lyrically it would have fit on LS, but musically, it fits better on Sign IMO. LS is a very 'slick' sounding album (production wise), whereas Sign is a bit more of a mixed bag, so it fits better on Sign I think, given the 'rawness' of the prodction. IIRC, the circulating version doesn't have the full instrumentation on it, accounting for the rawness. It was recorded for LS, so was too late for SOTT any way.

Prince was toying with the idea of putting this song on Lovesexy but the reaction the track received from insiders at PP was so lukewarm that in the end he decided to leave it out.

I have it listed as Cross The Line. Ingrid C. is on vocal . . . I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

No it should not have been on Lovesexy.
I see why you would say that though. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

The orginal THE LINE is a mid-tempo groove that was meant 4 lovesexy. The late Bonnie Boyer sang background vocals BOB4theFUNK

Definitely, yes. I love that song, and I listen to it quite often. I have great and intimate memories of my first listen of 'Lovesexy' and when I heard 'The Line' for the first time, my mind got back to those days. This means it would have worked on the album. And yes, between 'I wish U heaven' and 'Positivity'.

There is the Ingrid Chavez interlude as played live during on the Lovesexy tour, between the two distinctive parts of the show, which is called Cross The Line and there is the Lovesexy outtake called The Line, featuring Boni Boyer, , which is a long dancy tune, refered to in the Crystal Ball liner notes, as the opening scream of Acknowledge Me is lifted from that song.
