I think The rainbow children is a beautiful album and it speak of love not hate while we keep our eyes, not on the things seen, but on the things unseen. For the things seen are temporary, but the things unseen are everlasting. - 2 Corinthians 4:28

You don't get any points for calling people "fams" either. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Because of the blatant cultish propaganda, the irritating voice over and the underlying anti-Jewish subthemes and the silly dissing of ex girlfriends. It's the only Prince album that got me angry. And sad for Prince setting borders to his music, life and mind. It felt like I lost an old friend, musically. New theocratic order, my ass. ditto here. brilliant music, just... erase the track with those lyrics. and the album cover. talk about a demon prince

I am listening to that other much better "comeback" album of 2001, by some one called Michael Jackson, its called "Invincible" anyone heard of it. Cry is an amazing song. This is Prince.org, not Michael Jackson The Pedophile.org. Let's not turn this into an "Invincible is better than TRC" discussion. [Edited 7/22/08 11:55am] [Edited 7/22/08 11:56am] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

TRC beats the dog shit outta Invincible. I dig TRC a lot. I look at the CD like it's a story. I have my own beliefs and I don't let his belief interfer with mine on this CD. It's a story that even has a narrator on it and the music is kickass. It's cool to see TRC get love when 7 years ago it was dogged massively around here. In someways, it's still as divisive now as it was in 2001. I should listen to it again. Agreed. I will be the first to admit that TRC is probably one of the LEAST listened to of all the Prince CDs that I own. But there are a couple of trax on there that I do like. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

To me, TRC is easily in his top 5. Best musicianship ever shown by Prince on a CD btw.
I think it is a cultural thing. I have read terrible articles about TRC in the USA and extremely positive ones in European western countries. Very weird.

Yep, I think Prince has always seen the US from a Euro-centric point of view, he get's bored and come over to Europe for creative break! Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..

No matter how much of a pussy he is, how shitty his attitude is and how fed up with his music I am sometimes, I can ALWAYS listen to The Rainbow Children. It's just amazing

I think The Rainbow Children is a great album. Even though I don't always agree with the sentiment presented in many of the lyrics, I ADORE when Prince is passionate about something. I'll take sincerity over banality any day. After all, I don't have to agree with what he's saying to FEEL what he's saying.

Another subject beat to death,
But I must stop and bash this stupid thing at any chance I get, One, if not the worst album in the Prince canon. I could care less about the dumb lyrics if the music wasn’t lame recycled versions of his better earlier work. Yes, yes, he uses live musicians, but they couldn’t save the tedium of the unimaginative compositions . [Edited 7/22/08 18:01pm]

I had to come back just to post on this CD.
If you were around on the old ORG we used to have a mysterious poster here in the late night hours around March,April, and May of 2001 called The Rainbow Child. Many of us here at that time thought that it was someone bullshitting with us .I think that it was Prince himself because of some of the responses that he left with our questions. Anyway in regards to the questions bout this CD he said that it would sound different to the person and the listener would respond to the album as if they had a mirror to their soul. With the many reactions to this album I think that that is a correct statement in regards to that album. TRC when you hear it reflects your soul back to you.

TRC is his last creative effort. it reminded when he used 2 consistently used 2 do this back in the day. I apologize 2 LOVE 4 ONE ANOTHER... I'm a huge fan of wbai and all of the prince specials. I've been a fan of them since anthony sloanback in 1985. like sly stone said... diffrent strokes 4 dfferent folks. i'm sorry for the fams comment as well. You're a prince fan.. and that all by itself shows you have great taste in music. I'll never challenge your tastes again. Will u 4give me?....BOBBY BOB4theFUNK

i don't like that song either. don't think i like that One Nite Alone... piano thing at all. could have been so much more. I don't want to get into the whole RC discussion but I have to defend this brilliant, complex, beautiful and challenging song. The lyrical metaphor of cascading avalanches brought on by ignorance and our country's refusal to deal honesty with the subject of racism is perfectly projected by the achingly beautiful vocals and piano. When I saw this song live my jaw dropped. It was so suprising and a perfect example of inspiring art. What part of history is rewritten?

It's always the same 3 or 4 characters trying prompt this mess up with the same ol " i usto hate it untill i forced myself to like it' routine" they express their point and me mine. But mostly because i really do passionately hate this thing [Edited 7/22/08 19:35pm]

True story, my car was broken into not too long after that CD came out and they stole it. They left the cover but the CD was gone. Spooky Electric thought they were stealing my much adored CD collection but he actually did me a favor. Thanks Spooky!!!!!

Prince "Abraham Lincoln was a racist" Frederick Douglas - "In all my interviews with Mr. Lincoln I was impressed with his entire freedom from popular prejudice against the colored race. He was the 1st great man that I talked with in the U.S. freely, who in no single instance reminded me of the difference between himself and myself, of the difference of color, and I thought that all the more remarkable because he came from a State where there were black laws." Prince "if it wasn't 4 the 13th Amendment we woulda been born in slavery" President Lincoln took an active role to ensure its (the 13th Amendment) passage through the House by ensuring the amendment was added to the Republican Party platform for the upcoming Presidential elections.
