Noon Rendezvous. Sheila E or Prince? They almost sound like two different songs and I dig P's version, but I think I still prefer Sheila's. It's so soothing and beautiful.

sheila's version is o-kay, i guess . don't even get me started on how much i p's rehearsal version (the live version is okay too ). since the complete version is out now, i've been wearing that shit out lately :obsessed: . the intro, p's vocals, the main solo and all the ones in between and of course, probably my favorite line ever, "sittin' in this cafe waitin' for my baby", like a million times with ad-libs . yeah, prince's For all time I am with you, you are with me.

What do you mean when you say " is out now" ? That rehearsal has been circulating for almost two decades now. You mean that 14 min. rehearsal version , right ? Or is there any other "complete" version circulating that I haven´t heard of ? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Did Sheila really cowrite this song? I know the writing credits on her first album say she wrote all the songs when Prince really did, but the copyright credits for this one are Girlsongs and Chocheat, suggesting that Sheila did indeed cowrite it. Anyone know?
As for which version I prefer, Prince's is just unbelievably good. I can't get enough of it. The song itself is so good that I love every version of it, but there's something about the wistfulness of the line "Sittin' in this cafe waiting for my baby" that wins me over. So I would vote for Prince's version first, followed by Sheila's live version, which has that line, and then the album version last, with the caveat that even the version in last place is excellent.

I'd say Prince's live and the rehearsal. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Well, I had almost forgotten about Prince's rehearsal so it's only the other day that I started listening to it again. Yup, the repeating "Sitting in the café..." line is also my favorite part! I actually got chills down my spine when I listened to it last night... Now I think which version I prefer will change with my mood, simple as that.
