Is holding up this "mirror" a service you provide only to Prince fans? Cause honey, we definitely ain't the worst of the bunch. Pretty much every singer and group has their obsessives. I'd say in the obsessive fan category, Elvis fans reign supreme. And right now, on some Yahoo! music messageboard, I'd be willing to bet that there is a Whitesnake fan proclaiming the bands genius and how underrated they were and a comeback is right around the corner.
Anyway, out of all the musicians, singers or groups to be obsessed with, I'll wear my Prince Fam badge with pride. BTW, have you really posted over 8000 topics on this site? I'm guessing since you also log on to artist's sites you actually like to discuss various issues, you must have a hell of a lot of time on your hands. Okay, now I'll answer your question. I think because Prince has always had a special spiritual dimension, he's had a more profound effect on his fans than most other artists with fanatical followings. I was super-hardcore for many years...and then I lost religion and gained perspective.

I have about 500 or so Prince discs and all kinds of collector's stuff too, but I can laugh at myself and others and I definitely don't kiss the man's ass. I have to admit, I was REALLY defensive about Prince a few years ago but I finally got over it.
