The Ultimate Prince Band - The Final Results

Round #6 gave the last 2 winners. Those that lost are:

Saxophone: Maceo Parker (55% - 2 votes difference)
Dancer: Cat (60% - 4 votes difference)

The Ultimate Prince Band as voted by you:
Drums: John Blackwell
Bass: Rhonda Smith
Guitar: Wendy Melvoin
Keyboards: Dr. Fink
Saxophone: Eric Leeds
Other Horns: Atlanta Bliss
(Backing) Vocals: Rosie Gaines
Dancer: Mayte

There are a few people I didn't expect. I thought Michael B would be on the drums instead of John. Never expected Wendy on guitar or Rosie on Backing vocals. 50% Of the ultimate Prince band came from The Revolution era.

Thank you all for voting!!

I can't believe Dr. Fink beats Renato. Did you all hear Renato jam on the ONA tour ? And most of all : did you see Prince enjoying his playing ?

That man can play ... he doesn't need to be dressed as a doctor to be cool !

absolutely pathetic.
whoever voted for some of these people have some issues.

Wendy on guitar ? what the hell did she ever do that anybody else can do with their eyes closed ??

rhonda on bass - what a joke .

dr fink, eric leeds and rosie are the only three valid people who actually have a reason to be on that list ...

Michael B, Tommy Barbarella, Sonny T, Mr Hayes & Mayte would kick that 'best of' band's ass.

Sorry, but Sonny T needs to replace Rhonda Smith...

Michael B knew how to play ANYTHING, not just elaborate "staged" flying of arms to show off type playing...neutral

I'm cool with the rest biggrin

---

As good as the jamming of his current ONA band is...they are BORING, yes boring. I prefer musicians that have a stage presence as well...which is why I ultimately attend Prince's concerts...if Prince were merely a "musician", I wouldn't enjoy his concerts HALF as much.

Persian

A few things to remember:
For all natanatonotor (or whatever his name is) he was technically amazing on keyboards...

but Dr. Fink contributed those keyboards to the Dirty Mind album... nuff said

As always there will be those that don't agree, but justanotherasshole's quote, "Wendy on guitar ? what the hell did she ever do that anybody else can do with their eyes closed ??"

She had the biggest personality of all associated artists. She will be forever remembered for her portrayal in "Purple Rain" and she (along with Lisa) is one of the few associated artists to survive in their own right as a true artistic prescence in Prince fans eyes. That's all!

I note all the comments about Michael B and have to say it is a close thing. Having seen John Blackwell recently, I think the right choice was made.

A good thread, JeePee!

I think Wendy was chosen more because of who/how she is (was) then how she can play.
