Most people that have hear about Compton is n a negative way. He could ride thru Compton all day and the only way he would know he’s in Compton, is from someone telling him so. Compton has so many small cities surrounding it. I totally LOVE PE. It always gets played when I’m in my car. I have a 5 disc CD player and everyone has a Prince CD in it. ALWAYS.... P E FOREVER

His name is "Mystery". That metrosexual-looking member of the seduction community, and the host of that show on VH1, "The Pick-Up Artist". Damn black nail polish wearing mu'fugga. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I'm a Musicology/3121 hater who was starting to wonder if Prince could still deliver a complete album which satisfied me and he did just this with Planet Earth.
Okay, it's not Parade, hell, it's not even Emancipation, but it's a solid effort with seven or eight very well crafted songs and a few guilty pleasures. All The Midnites is a beautiful record which accomplishes being sentimental without being schmaltzy. The title track is pure pop melodrama and one of his srongest opening cuts in quite some time. And I've always said that if the ridiculously catchy The One U Wanna C were released as a single it could've been a hit. It's not exacty anything we haven't seen from Prince before, but do any of us really expect that when he's pushing 50? It's definately a respectable album in the Prince canon and vastly under-rated by some on here. I'm always astounded reading orgers praise the largely uninspired 3121 and hate on Planet Earth... You need one of these:

"Somewhere Here On Earth" has become one of my all time favorite Prince songs. I listen to "Planet Earth" as much as I listen to other Prince albums, no more / no less. To me, it's damn good music.

Somewhere Here On Earth sounds like a poor mans Power Fantastic to me.
One of the few tracks I skip on PE... [Edited 7/17/08 5:11am]

On topic: I think this album is a'ight, not dreadful but nothing to call your mama about, either.... I think The one you wanna see and Somewhere here on earth are VERY EXEPTIONAL tracks. I mean damn good. The rest is okay...the only truely bad song is Resolution...

Whoever has the Adam Ant logo thing as their sign... that's really cool.
This album, however, is not cool. Not at all.... even though it features my beloved W & L... Barry Manilow? Shit Disco? A forty nine year old writing songs like the on you want to see? I mean... At least it has All The Midnights In The World on it... at least it proces this is a Prince album. The man who wrote Starish and Coffee wrote ATMITW... a marvellous song, the song that means I'll buy the next Prince album just in case he's remembered to write other songs as good as this one... ALSO... 3121 was a marvellous piece of CD...e xcept for about half of it... but the half that was good was GEEEEEYOOOOOD.

"the one you want to see" and "proves" in the words of a much more famous Prince song, I stand corrected.

Here in orgland I'm pretty much the ambassador of 80's/New Wave music. With Adam being a New Wave star, I just gotta represent, ya know? And I'll even count our purple hero as a New Wave star too. But anyways, I'm sorry you feel the way you do about PE. I really dug it. It was nice to hear my man crank up the guitar and rock out again.
