Yeah, this was a long time ago. For the newcomers to the PRince community, they have to understand that when this interview was published in 1985, it was a big deal. Because Prince hardly talked at ALL in those days. ***************************************************

This is another debate entirely, but I have to say the poor seem to care less about money than the rich. The more money we make, the more money we learn to live on. After the millions, I guess he decided to spend it on stuff like monogrammed lumber for his mansions...

~laffin hysterically~ lmao roflmao Suuure ya don't... yeah but to be fair I think most of his stance on money and record companies stems from him making his rec company literally over 100 mill and everyone having their hands in it..of course thats the price of having a rec. co. make you a star and its their work that does it...(but also remember he and his managers had to come up with the money for PR production etc),so now he has the stance where he makes whatever money on his own and its all his at a better rate etc..in other words not taking care of someone else kids and putting them through college who isnt even supportive etc who could give a damn about him or othe r artists etc...the lines blur when it become hypocritical with not letting people out of Paisley park contracts etc...but in essence I think in the origins of his money battle, that was the case. I had that Issue.it was funny&a trip but overall then as now He never said much in His Interviews overall about His WOrk fully IMHO.all that talk about No More Bass if Brown Mark Left is the kind of Jive He has always said about Various Band Members through the Years.back in the day I was always wondering why none of the Journalists didn't have the Balls too Ask Him what He thought about Being Linked with Michael Jackson&How both of them Being Young Black Artists were Dominating a Other Wise Racist&Segragated Radio&Music Formats through out the Nation?funny remembering that ROlling Stone Cover because Prince at the time pulled a Pre- Pearl Jam Move by saying He wasn't gonna release a Single or a Video. mistermaxxx

Yeah I understand what you mean. But I guess Karlen was just so happy to see Prince talking period, it didn't matter what he said, as long as he said something. ***************************************************

Does it bother you that strangers make pilgrimages to your house?
No, not at all. But there's a time and a place for everything. A lot of people have the idea that I'm a wild sexual person. It can be two o'clock in the afternoon, and someone will make a really strange request from the call box outside. One girl just kept pressing the buzzer. She kept pressing it, and then she started crying. I had no idea why. I thought she might had fallen down. I started talking to her, and she just kept saying, "I can't believe it's you." I said, "Big deal. I'm no special person. I'm no different than anyone." She said, "Will you come out?" I said, "Nope, I don't have much on." And she said, "That's okay." I've lectured quite a few people out there. I'll say, "Think about what you're saying. How would you react if you were me?" I ask that question a lot. "How would you react if you were me?" They say, "Okay, okay." Natasha, were you this girl??? Just messing with you boo. This was a great interview with LIL MAN back in 85'. I think I still have this issue somewhere.

this is definitely one of my favorite interviews! It is nice of you to post it because I can't remember where I read it be4. The part about McDonalds really makes me sad everytime I read or think about it not because it is Prince who is recalling hunger as a child, but because what he said about being poor as a child is true and there are so many children out there today still fighting the same struggle. Wonder if they can beat the odds also, let's hope.
