Great song written by the dude from Philly's own Hooters! BUT - I hated that Prince recorded it. I think it's cool to cover other peoples stuff live but if you are a perfectly capable songwriter as P is, why bother to record someone elses song? Especially when that song was a major hit only a few years before? He also put no extra effort into it being that the drum pattern was the exact same one he used for Love Thy Will Be Done for Martika. Of course I was bothered by the Sheryl Crow cover also but we can save that for another thread. | |

In my opinion it was probably prompted by where P was at the time, not necessarily because of the music or whether the song had been a hit or not
Remember what Sheila E said, it has nothing to do with how a song sounds but whether it comes from the heart. Or something. Sounds like a load of old baloney to me anyway | |

Makes one thing b4 reacting. This song, also put out the ideal of old, yet still held on beliefs. That lives on. This belief that God; is some far away being, never manifesting unto other forms. Thats all richly clad and beyound touching. feeling experiencing the human experience. It shows, what I believe is the Message of Jesus christ. Is/was & always 2 come. That (God) can be born of a man/women walk the earth, Take on human flesh, live beneath his staus, ride on a donkey humblely, Yet as the ( King) putting away Pride and self (praise) calling himself the server stead of being the servered Being treated cruely as this world & life can be. Yet his action was of (holiness). Toward thoses who treated him with (hate) or love). (sip on slapped) pierced in the side, punished for crimes he didn't do, sin he didn't breed.
