Prince, please go away!!!! The man of course is free to do whatever he likes, but dig if you will this scenerio: Prince becomes a major recluse for 2 - 3 years. Maybe he even grows a beard (not as well kept as the Grafitti Bridge beard), and grows a small afro. He shys away from make up and heels as he is left only time to really reflect on his journey musically and spiritually. I think he needs some major down time from the public eye and his self- proposed image to focus on these things - 1. An album of songs focused around a simple but single concept. 2. Form new band of musicians that he can learn from and work with songwriting wise. Miles Davis said to play with much younger cats because they try things musically that more seasoned players won't because they don't know any better. And that is a good thing! 3. Lose the cocky, Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame attitude. I say these things because I've been listening to alot of the Dream Factory era material lately and I really miss that original and daring side of him. And also, and I know many will cringe at the thought, but maybe let an established Producer step in to just bounce ideas off of Prince and vice versa. Your thoughts?

People are already making "where the hell is he?" Threads I was just thinking that too. It's not like he's in the press everyday the way someone like Madonna is. He's still as reclusive now as he was 20 years ago. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

He's still as reclusive now as he was 20 years ago. The award shows, the award show after parties, the annual tours promoting uninspired works, the constant internet police thing he does, the Verizon commercial last year. There used to be no Prince sightings at all between albums back in the day. I'm not counting the tours promoting the albums. His move to Hollywood and the constant celebrity gatherings is what annoys me. The business and hype side of the industry has consumed him. He ain't all about the music anymore. And for ya'll that are yawning over this topic, you can go look at the "Prince's scariest pic" threads or "Princes Ex-wife and Eric Benet" thread if that's what get's you off. Personally, it's all about the music for me. I would love him to prevent himself from being the next Little Richard!

If Prince takes the advice of an established producer, than I suppose your theory of working with less established muscians, goes out the window, However...Wearing a Rock-N-Roll hall of fame attitude...are the cats we need to follow...and the strays ought to tag-a-long...for the sake of cleaner air. I see what you're talking about but what if he drops from the face of the earth and comes back in a year or 2's time and releases an album that makes CD's like Planet Earth and New Power Soul look like they were Purple Rain and SOTT? You might be wanting Prince to host another L.A. party if that were to happen. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

BigBen07, I can kind of see what direction your going in. But I do think Prince is being a bit reclusive now. He's being Kinda of quiet. That may be a good thing, he is a Gemini. My oldest is a Gemini and when she is not making a bunch of noise means she is thinking, pondering, trying new things or thoughts on her "twin" so to speak. Prince, agreeing with you BB07, does need to get away. although I never imagined California. It seems so phony, how can a person have down time in such a up, busy, keep it movin' and shakin' town. What ever Mr. Nelson is doing I hope it's for the best for himself. When He's happy, I'm sure his fans, fams, or whatever will take suite in his feeling. Everyone needs a retreat, and hopefully Mr. Nelson get's what he's looking for. And just my thought, but if he wants some down time I still cant see Cali! Party after Party, to me it sounds lonley, that could be it He could be lonly, I would be at this point.....Just my opinion. He might be having the time of his life.....more power to him if party after party is his cup of tea still.

Oh gosh, I think a " bigben07, please go away! " thread is in order! grammar edit [Edited 7/16/08 16:02pm] I SECOND THAT!!! Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Some very good points there, OP.
But seeing the reactions by others here on this thread, it isn't allowed on the Org to hope or wish for some change of direction in Princes musical career. [Edited 7/17/08 21:47pm]

Wow, me go away? I'm not the one that many would like to see go back to being a creative and daring superstar. I'm in my prime now thank you very much. Please let us all be honest with ourselves here. Most of us would not be Prince fans based on 3121, Planet Earth, or the Rainbow Children. Most of us are fans because of Dirty Mind and all the albums after up until Sign O' The Times. It's not a fluke that he had a string of 7 solid albums, it's not a "lucky break that he's around" s Randy Newman said. For those that are fine with him being on automatic pilot now good for you, but it pains me. Maybe I'm a deeper fan of his work than ya'll? Some here would rather see him on TMZ leaving a party than discovering a new Prince track recently recorded that can compete with a track like "Wonderful Ass" or "Condition Of The Heart"? Come on, were are all the real Prince fans at to support me?

I once bought a Mercedes 560 SEL based partly on the fact that it had windshield wipers on the headlights. That was really cool in 1991.

bigben07 you need to get a grip, Prince is never going back to the way he used to be. The problem with stuck in the mud old heads like you is you wanna still live in the 80's. If Prince has moved on with his music that's his choice if you can't take it--move on!

As a Cali born and raised and still here person...I can see why he is in Cali. Year round good weather, access to all kinds of musicians to jam and work with and a location where you can be in the mountains, desert and at the ocean all in the same day. Perfect for a retreat.
