Bart is an example of what carrying a grudge waaaaay too long can do for you.
On the other hand, I'm sure Trent is just loving his new bestest friend and fam, Bart. lol

this is not a bussiness model or for gods sakes!

Yes it is. it's called KEEPING YOUR FANS HAPPY and it is the CORE of any decent independent artist business model.

Bzzt, wrong. Let's see: does Reznor have to pimp his records to a major label that then decides on when to release it and how to promote it? Nope. http://www.ninwiki.com/The_Slip

The Slip (also known as Halo 27) is the eighth and latest studio album from Nine Inch Nails. It was released as a free download on May 5, 2008

[...]

According to a Rolling Stone article, the album was finished May 4th and sent to Sudjam, the company that manages nin.com, at 9:30 p.m. for a midnight release.

Didn't Prince promise something that?

What was Prince's business model for his latest album? Oh yeah, he sold his latest album to a rightwing/racist newspaper. Whew, how innovative.

lol,
Yeah what other major artist did that first!, but more importanly, he got more copies into peoples hands for free (with the purchase of the paper) and made a tidy sum more than Trent did!

Bart I agree with you on a lot of things but this one is just too silly for you to keep pushing.
Internet distribution was a new thing 10 years ago when Prince first stated doing it, but god knows its not now , what Trent is doing now is not innovative, its almost the new mainstream for indie/limited appeal characters like Prince and Trent. They really almost have no other realistic option than the DIY model.
Nowadays it even seems kinda hokey.
As far as "making your fans happy" fuck that shit, never going to happen, art is subjective and magic, if magic happens, fans are happy, there is no model for magic.
Business and art seem like an unlikely pairing, but they have a delicate necessary symbiosis like a flees, blood and insect repellant

Why are we comparing Trent Reznor & Prince? Is there some big feud between the two on who makes better use of the internet? Is this like a new MJ vs Prince thing? I'm so out of the loop. confuse
