I'm a pianist as well, and I think his piano work on the album gets the job done. He sets the mood well, and I think the playing is mostly quite pretty. There is nothing overly impressive technically other than a couple of instances on the title track and maybe a couple others, but he has great style and mood.
None of the playing on this album compares with his work on Condition of the Heart, however.

Yeah I agree. Moody and stylistic, but nothing that's technically amazing. Sounds like easy listening New age stuff, except for his distinctly stylized manner. Actually sounds forced and artifical, but it's adequate for some, I guess. test

Seems like the overly critical people are the sheep now days. It takes guts to admit that you like something. -Rdhull ...it ain't where ya from, it's where ya at... - Rakim

as 4 my thoughts...it sux that the songs were so short...it's like u start gettin into a song, and the piano work's so nice...then the song's over.

I've always loved his piano playing. On songs like "Condition of the Heart", it really speaks to me. And who could forget his piano work on "How come you dont call me"? Simply brilliant, IMO. Prince plays piano in a very gospel-like manner, I believe, cuz "How Come You dont call me" has a very gospel edge to it. Thank U you just said my peace babygirl. And let me just add the ever-so-powerful POWER FANTASTIC!!! Girl, the piano in that song cannot be avoided at all.
