No Band -> No Quality

I noticed with my work, the most successful projects are the ones where I work with a certain group of people. We bring out the best in each other and the result is always more than the customer ever hoped for.
Prince seems to have the same track record. When he surrounds himself with key people, they foster great things. Obviously The Revolution, but even times of experimentation. Some where annoyed by the huge NPG posse, but I think that group brought energy and new ideas. They played around with skits (NPG Exodus) and new sounds. Plus, they kept people in line. It was either Sonny or Michael who mentioned in an interview 'naw, naw, I heard that before.' Making sure no one tried to sneak in some old sound in a new track.
I know he can do it all, but sometimes letting others brings new freedoms. Egos are great, but you can do amazing things if you put them away for a while and let others draw the best out of you.
Plus, I miss Bland smashing those drums! Good times, good times.
Life without music..... why?

I hear what you're saying. I agree to a certain extent. But on the other hand, look at all the great things he did alone..When Doves Cry, Dirty Mind album, 1999 album....the list goes on & on.

But it is helpful to have others to bounce ideas around with. He is great when surrounded by people he's WILLING to listen to.
