Prince and Interior Design.

Prince and Interior Design.

Yes this thread is meant to be taken literally...I am not asking about any of Prince's old girlfriends.

When we have seen pictures of Paisley Park, and the 3121...apartment...And we know from watching the travel channel, that there are thousands of ways to decorate your home...

I realize that Prince has the ability to have an everchanging room around him, and include every angle of architecture or design around him as he camped out from one place to another...However, If Prince was forced to remain in one house for at least one year...how would it be decorated...I realize different rooms could have different styles...but do you think that Prince likes a contemporary style, or modern, or what?

My guess is that if Prince had to live in a home, he would probably be more comfortable, in an African styled home with a bamboo kitchen, and I'm sure some 70's kind of touches here and there...however, I believe that Prince would go more for and outdoors feeling inside, than a sculpted marble look...

Any thoughts?

Wrong, wrong, wrong. I have seen many pictures of the inside of Prince's homes and not ONE of them had any African design as far as I could see.

i don't think he gives a shit about interior design - as long as he's got clean sheets on his bed & a bible in the bedside cabinet, he's a happy boy.

photos of Prince's homes or studio show he's totally into ultra-modern tacky furniture, gold & pastels. From what I've seen, I thought it was so eek ... ugly! As an interior designer, I am offended by the lack of taste. If he hired me ... I'd make it purple if he wants, but there's purple & then there's purple.

I'm a designer too and the photos I have seen look a bit over the top to me as well. I would think that Prince being an artist would appreciate fine craftsmanship, luxurious, natural materials, clean and simple lines. Beautiful natural materials don't need a lot of fussy decoration. Their natural beauty can speak for itself. Comfortable furnishings, I could see a lot of white in his interiors. He is a well kempt, single man that wouldn't have to worry about white getting all smudged... Add some fantastic artwork and voila you would have a beautiful home, dare I say...fit for a Prince!!!!! biggrin

Funny this topic came up...I was searching for theatrical curtains online today at work and stumbled onto the company that did the acoustical drapery in the home that is pictured on the 3121 CD case. I have been thinking all day about that house and how I would tweak the interior!

I think that the 3121 house was more for show...It wasn't a home that Prince built himself..I see Prince more as the type of person to go for skylights and things...something stylish built for comfort...for really calling home.

If Prince was to purchase a home that was already existing...I have seen some homes that are built into mountains, that reminded me of his comfort level...I know that, beautiful homes come in endless imaginings....I love the couch in the 3121..booklet...but that was all that I loved.

Yeah, I think it was a rental home but he sure did put some $$ into personal details, not to mention the use of the acoustical drapery. Probably served as nothing more than a party house. BTW, have you noticed that the heart shaped mirror in the CD photos is (or is like) the one that is on the front of his keyboard at concerts?

Personally, I would be interested in designing his next concert residence like the 3121 club in Vegas. Homes aren't my thing, however, with a nice high end residence I think I could be open to the idea of designing a comfy place for the man to hang his hat!

i agree, prince's interior design taste seems to be like michael jackson-lite., with a twist of gaudy new age. it's why nobody can ever convince me prince is gay - no gay man would ever decorate their surroundings like prince does. disbelief

that's what I thought about the Paisley Park pictures shown a few months ago..."Prince has no eye for interior design"

I much prefer Lenny's decorating. A lot of it is pretty over-the-top, but I dig his total commitment to Far-Out 70's

I bet you could...You seem to have a happy approach to that very idea...You know, that anybody can have a great hotel room, and who wouldn't want to spend a week sleeping on the bed in 3121, or taking a bath there...but....you know...there's somethin' about the jungle that's kinda fun...minus the panther's and the high humidity...I like the idea of an open shower...with stone like floors...

Twinkly1

In Berlin I visited a home which had a large bathroom; the shower was open -- without a shower door -- and it had large dual shower heads. The bathroom was designed like a wet room with large italian tile and it looked as if when you showered you didn't have to worry about water getting on anything because the shower area was so large and the floor was slightly sloped that the water just ran into the drain.

I wondered if this style was design-specific to this home or "typical" european. Anyone know?

That is what I like...for a shower....I have also thought that you could semi-circle...one side...with stone beads...to seperate yourself from an island shaped bathtub....

Somethimes I think that the comfortable eccentric...has the nicer home, including...many styles...only for you and your tastes.

I don't know which would be worse the panthers or the humidity! lol Jungle makes me think of mosquitos...how about tropical island instead. On vacation a couple of months ago the island we went to had condos with outdoor showers...very nice and very sexy.

Anyway...I think I would like to design his next stage or concert club. It would be hard to top the symbol stage but I have some ideas.....
