there's a lot of things prince SHOULD do, but you know the saying - "if wishes and buts were clusters of nuts, we'd all have a bowl of granola." sigh

Who needs it? A lot of really good stuff is already out there - if you know where to look. shrug
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

a box set would omit certain things and then people would complain about it ..hell look at the ONA box set and how jumbled that is
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

It's like Aretha said at the end of Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves; "Thank you; I'l do it myself!"

And that's the kind of thing Prince enforces with his uptightness about;
A) His unreleased, previously bootlegged studio outtakes
B) His unreleased, previously bootlegged live material
C) His image
D) His name
E) The endless re-writing of history during his Rainbow Children spell and constant re-editing of his own material, like The Cross, Sexuality and DMSR, fer chrissake.
F) Shut up, already! Oops!

I mean, do people still expect the man to gain sense and care for what his fans actually want? Except maybe if it means play Play That Funky Music about 21 times, like a money grabbing whore in the biggest place in Europe, in favour of his own classic material, but instead just plays a fucking loop of Nasty Girl, then switches to a muzak version of What A Wonderful World while he changes his outfit?
I mean, wake up, children, Dance The Dance Electric, it's all a pose.

you know what I think would be a GREAT idea and a purty good seller too?

A live HITS set! (yeah I know...more hits) A Video and Audio Release. (seperate or together)
With the BEST FULL versions of his biggest hits and rare other gems ofcourse.
"not a fan" falloff yeah...ok

an

Y'know people talk about he needs to release live stuff. Well he has

Purple Rain Syracuse 85
Birthday Parade Detroit 86
SoTT Movie
LiveSexy
Sacrifice of Victor 1993
Undertaker
The War
Rave Un2 The Year 2000
Live At The Aladdin 2002
ONA box set
Indigo Nights coming up

Without even having to get into boots, thats quite a lot. Sure I'd love to have a career spanning box set. Even better would be if he took a page out of Bob Dylan and started releasing a Bootleg Series with outtakes and classic shows. Probably not gonna happen though
