Strange though it may sound, I lose track of time listening to the extended version of America.

I agree with Beautiful Strange, Question of U, and God (Instrumental). I searched for 17 years for that track, thought I had imagined ever hearing it, and finally gave up and downloaded it off Napster.

And, of course, Hallucination Rain. Would love to hear him do this one live with him on a guitar solo instead of the electronic violin thing...!

Joy In Repetition is one of Prince's most hypnotic jams, especially the original version with the full intro.
The full 12 minute version of 'A Love Bizarre' is quite hypnotic too, as is 'Beautiful Strange'.

Now:

She's Always In My Hair(Revolution B-side)

and

The Rave2000 version (Kip's background vocals were great(+ Larry's Bass play). Alot of people here complain about Kirk using too many "Drum loops", but this song was meant to have that Linn "Techno" feel.[These same folks wanted him to return to his old "Linn Machince dominated" sound as well..hmmm] There's nothing wrong with Blackwell's performance on this song. I just love the contrast of the nice lyrics with that harsh, and "futuristic" new-wave sound.

I rember Prince playing this in Atlanta in early 1999.. the crowd didn't know what hit them... it was a nice change-up from "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man".

Honorables:

High
Calhoun Square (live as well)
Muse 2 the Pharoah
God is Alive
BabyGogo

Then: 17 Days, Shocadelica, Its Gonna Be a Beautiful Night, Insatiable, Billy Jack, Dark.

I can't listen to the God Instrumental just once or twice. Even if I'm on my crappy boombox manually hitting the "back" button over & over, it's on repeat for at least an hour. It just lulls me in & I can't get out. Whatever mood I'm in, this song takes me somewhere else & makes any & everything okay. innocent

What Prince song puts you in a trance?
Oddly enough..."Calhoun Square." It just consumes me.

I usually have to go ahead and let "What's my name" play afterward, as the two seem to go together somehow.

...Although it is debatable whether I was actually in a trance-like state... perhaps "stunned" is a better description.
