I wanted to see Yaz!

Who knew Prince was into Yaz back in the '80's?

Who is YAZ?
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Yaz is the group formed by a ex-Depeche Mode band member, that have many clasic club hits in th early 80's, was a really radical band with great beats.

They have a prayer type of song that remind me of Prince a lot.

Yaz is the original Erasure - With a better voice ;P

Yaz (or Yazoo if you're a really big fan - Since that was their actual name) was a synthpop band started by Vince Clark (the "other guy" in Erasure - and from the original Depeche Mode) and Alison Moyet.

Check out a clip of the song "Situation" somewhere on line and you might recognize it. After they broke up, Vince Clark started Erasure and Alison Moyet went on to a VERY successful solo career - She's REALLY quite good. If you haven't heard of either Yaz or Alison Moyet, it's not shocking (especially if you're from the US), but I'd encourage you to check them out smile

Woo Hoo! First post! Thanks! razz
I can stop whenever I want! You don't believe me? Well, if you're such a good listener, why don't you watch this?!

I just found out Yazoo were known as Yaz in the states:

(We Europeans had another Yaz: different musician, very very strange woman)

From Wikipedia:
Yazoo's initial foray into the US was disastrous when they received a £3.5 million lawsuit threat over the band's name; Yazoo subsequently renamed to Yaz for the US market because the name was already in use by a small American rock band

YAZOO are amazing, amazing, Alison Moyet has a truly fantastic voice...

looks like they have another few dates in the states to go...

I always think of them as YAZ because there is another group named Yazoo.
I have at least three of Alison Moyet's solo albums. Good stuff.
I heard a mixtape with Situation on it and that is the only song I remember.
My roommate in the Army said he got the name of the song because he knew I would like it. (smile) I bought the album and we both became Yaz fans.
Nobody's Diary was simply brilliant.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I loved UPSTAIRS AT ERICS. I still jam on the song "Don't Go". I know they are touring again with a new compilation release, so that is cool that Prince decided to check them out.
The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/
