Who was your favorite before P?

Before you discovered Prince, who was the artist you thought was the best, made the greatest music, or was just flat out your favorite before Prince took the top spot?
chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

i was much into radiohead just before i got into p, although i wouldn't call them my "favorite". i was also into that whole cool "neo-soul" movement from the early 2000s. still love erykah badu, d'angelo (still m.i.a. mad), common, mos def, beck, the white stripes, etc. just (of course lol) not as much as our boy mushy giggle.

My mother was more into EW&F while my aunts had me listening to George and Boosty. I was just into buying 45s I liked here and there (all a pre teen could afford). But it was always something funky. ie Gap Band, One Way, Kool and the Gang, etc.

Regina, girl, come on! DAVID Cassidy all the way! What's this Shaun business? Haha.

I'm only 22 so David Cassidy was way before my time, but when I was 14 or 15, he was my one and only sweet and sexy love nonetheless.

Now that I'm in my 20's, it's the nasty, funky, so talented it makes you flip your lid, sexiness of Prince that does it for me.

I've met David Cassidy twice, and he's incredibly nice and sincere and devoted to his fans. He completely lives up to the fantasy. I hope to have a similar encounter with Prince one day. I'm not holding my breath... : S

i was 13 years old when i discovered prince, so my fave. was new kids on the block. it was 1991, i had to hide my diamonds and pearls cassette tape from my parents. they would have died if they knew i had bought it. they were against prince's music.

Thinking back that far to who was my favorite before Prince, well it would be The Time.

I first discovered The Time when "Jerk Out" was a hit and was played on the radio. Shortly after that Graffiti Bridge came out and that got me into Prince. But I was way more into the Time before Prince sank in.

But before The Time I think I was into Bobby Brown, Bell Biv Devoe and MC Hammer. It was just simply that time period.

All my peers were into white rock music at the time, like Metallica, who were REALLY metal and underground (and quite hip) at the time.

But I just dug me some r&b and rap! I felt the soul.
