I'm about to blow the lid off one of the deepest, darkest stories in Prince's storied past. It all started in early 1983, on a Saturday evening.

A lot of you oldheads remember the Prince spaghetti sauce scandal from the 1980s, when Prince sicced his lawyers on the company for using his likeness in their commercials during the Purple Rain madness. Everyone was trying to cash in on his association, and the food company was no different. Thing is, people don't realize the real reason Prince sued them.

Wasn't so much about his likeness being used without permission in 1984 or 1985. No, the real reason Prince HATES Prince Pasta to this day precedes those commercials by at least a year, to early 1983.

One Saturday evening that year, Prince was cooking with Prince spaghetti sauce. Some of it spattered from the frying pan into an open-flame burner on his stove. The grease from his tangled hairdo acted as an accelerant for the kitchen blaze. A lot of his hair was lost in the mishap.

Folks have often wondered for years why 1983 was one year that a crazily prolific artist such as P fell off the scene. Now you know: Brotha was recuperating and being fitted for special wigs and whatnot. Don't believe me, do you? You think this is all some silly, lame satire.

super-coiffed and primped in Purple Rain. How? Better hair dresser? No. Wigs.

He's been consistently wearing wigs since Purple Rain. Doesn't make him any less a superstar or musician. He's still a legend.



But, to this day, he will not set foot in an Olive Garden or Carrabba's, for fear that someone will try to slip him some Prince tomato sauce and the memories will come flooding back. To distance himself even more from that, he's become a vegan, in recent years.

So, anyway, when he saw the same company using his likeness after the movie was released, Prince lost it. Everyone thought it was about him and his ego. But it was deeper than that. A lot deeper.

I can't believe Per Nielsen's never included this story in his exhaustive writings. Or CJ and her comical gossip. Oh, well.

I know that Lisa seemed to "change" towards Prince as soon as Wendy joined the group but I can't see Lisa laughing at something Wendy would say regarding Prince to Prince's face all the time. I heard that Wendy used to take liberties at fucking with Prince more than the others. Like trying to clown him in front of the rest of the band. Or telling him when something he wrote sounded like "shit". I KNOW Prince wasn't down for all that. I think Lisa and Bobby would have told her she should knock that shit off. I think more than the others, it was Wendy who got caught up. I don't really think in his heart, Prince wanted to fire Lisa. Also, I don't think Lisa would have quit if it wasn't for Wendy about to break Lisa's arm dragging her to go with her.

That's true...you're indeed right. It was Lisa who told Prince when he sounded like shit. But Lisa could get away with it, because like I said earlier, Prince respected her and her opinion. I was thinking more along the lines of Wendy fucking with Prince, the name calling, so forth. And again, I if it wasn't for Wendy and Prince dating and then breaking up with Wendy's sister, Lisa wouldn't have left when she did, I don't think. I think Lisa would have at least stayed as long as Matt did.

The song Kiss is actually about a traumatic experience prince had a high school. Apparently prince was considered a geek at high school and his first girlfriend was also a geeky looking girl with glasses and bad teeth. Have you ever noticed how when prince kisses a girl in his films its all lips and never any tongue action. Well the reason for this is one day he was french kissing his geeky girlfriend and one of her teeth fell out and prince swallowed it. A few days later he pooed it out and he noticed it had turned into the shape of a symbol the same symbol he would later go by.

Another interesting fact is that the song the ladder is about a traumatic experience prince had in his child hood which was the reason for the song and later the reason he became vegan. Prince went fishing with a childhood friend when he was young and caught a fish he was so excited he pulled his line out of the water too fast and the line got caught up on a nearby tree. Prince tried desperately to free it but was unable to do so and the line snapped with the effort, which left the fish up in the tree with the hook in its mouth. Also because prince was so short he couldnt reach the lowest branch of the tree no matter how hard he jumped. Which was awfull because prince had intended to throw the fish back into the river but instead he had to watch it suffocate to death, helpless. This event inspired two lyrics one from animal kingdom put your brothers and sisters in the sea and one from the ladder everybodys looking for a ladder everybody wants salvation of the sole.
