I've heard that a lot of people don't like the Beautiful Strange version from Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic because of the fuzz tone guitar.

I've heard both versions of the song and I like both versions. I really trip on the Rave In2 version because of the fuzz tone guitar.

I love that sound!!

I like the version from the video. Sometimes less is better.

I also liked how he showed himself recording the song in the studio before Mel got there. I wonder if that was real or staged? It looked staged.

As to the topic... I too love the rave version. Very interesting use of not only the fuzz guitar, but a fantastic solo in my opinion. Mike Scott did a great job.

I dunno. I was so used to the '98 version that when I heard the Rave one, I wasn't sold on it.

I think now I'd say they're equals.

I love it! It's actually one of my Favorite songs. Prince outdid himself on this Masterpiece with the Guitar work and Hauntingly Hypnotic Lyrics. It's a wonderful song and in my opinion the best Track from the cd. Love,Love,Love Beautiful Strange...

The bit in the video with him in the studio did look incredibly staged. It's just a shame that Mel B hasn't got two brain cells to rub together. The Chris Rock interview on VH-1 in 1996 (I think) was much better.

I really don't hear a huge difference between the two versions. I fell in love w/ the Rave version first so that's what I'm used to hearing. The other one is great too.
