Songs you wish had extended versions I was listening to Something in the Water..... I love this joint so much, I wished this was one of those that went on another 2 -3 minutes. What songs deserve the extended treatment in your mind?

I'd say Something In The Water too. But not going crazy for another 5 min. I mean slow it down for a while like in the begining of the song and then it could be picked back up. Also Crazy You if that could had ever been even possible. It's one of my favorite ballads from Prince but it's way too short. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Bambi. Even in concert, he's never really gone off on it (in terms of length - not intensity). Not that I've heard, anyway. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

"Strange Relationship".
I have always tried 2 imagine an extended version, because at the end, near the fade out, it starts JAMMIN', with the percussion, ripping synth, and the tribal like vocals. There R others, but I have always wanted 2 hear where that jam went, because U know (especially with a fade out) that it went on longer when recorded. "He's a musician's musician..."

'Dear Mr Man' also sounds like it could be interesting as a develped jam but fades out instead. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Recent stuff?
I can hear a nice, long, meandering instrumental section a la "Father's Song" at the end of "A Million Days". I'd love a longer break in "Love" because it pounds out one of his best grooves in years and we don't get nearly enough of it. And maybe a studio version of "3121" with that long, funky, menacing bass line and horn intro, like the way they've been doing it live.

I'd say any recent stuff for a start.
I miss the good old days where the 12" release would usually contain a great Extended Version of the song. Not some dance remix but just an extended version. Like with Kiss, Mountains, U Got The Look, Let's Go Crazy etc. These days he doesn't even seem to bother with single edits let alone extended versions.

I always wanted an extended version of "17 Days". Great song! Could have gone on longer I think.

^ There is an extended version locked away in the vault for that track.

Yeah, there has to be 'cause it fades out. That will probably never see the light of day.

Any of them...would be great...I recently listened to "The Greatest Romance," cd single...and I guess I didn't remember how much, I enjoyed the second part...I really like the background vocals, and How the song gets a little more powerful half way through...I can really see so much more in this song...
I can see it starting off slowly, as the standard version does...and persisting on the speed and the intensity...It's really good. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

If I thought about it I could come up with loads, but the one that springs to mind instantly is,
Can't stop this feeling I got! Not the most outstanding track I know, but right at the end Prince starts to rock out with sounds is gonna be a wicked guitsr solo, only for it to quickly fade and the track to end!!!!! Life's a Parade! LoveLife, LoveSexy!

well, there was, but there was nothing new on it. you can buy a very pretty 12" vinyl picture disc, but it just has the album version and i think 'beautiful loved and blessed' as the b-side.

Some songs I agree with (Forever In My Life), others are just right the way they are (Bambi, even The Beautiful Ones, which was edited for length on Pruple Rain)
But in case of Forever In My Life and Strange Relationship, there are long love versions from the SOTT tour, which are amazing. If there are two songs I would love longer workouts from I'd pick; New Position Tamborine The Ladder, as performed in rehearsel, partly shown at the credits of the 91 documentary. Pretty please?

I LOVE "A Million Days", and U R DEAD ON with the "Love" comment. Do U know how many times I've rewound that part? A million. "3121" most DEFINITELY could have that long intro with the horns.
