I don't know when it was recorded, however, the version I have, I really like...I know that the lyrics are on the teenage sex curiosity level..and those could easily be changed...because the song is really good...

It's a cover or Cookie Jar is a cover! I never gave a fuck about unreleased stuff. It goes against Prince's wishes and I respect him!

Love the song. I don't know when it was recorded. I remember Prince mentioning it during a Rolling Stone interview.

Kiedis raved about the album in general and "Schoolyard" in particular. It was very disappointing when the album was released without it. To my understanding it was cut at the last moment because of the marijuana reference. Just imagine D&P minus jughead and including "schoolyard". Damn...what a missed opportunity.

instead of "push" i'd have also rather had "player" on the album. but
hey, that's just a wishing game lol.

but this is another reason why another, extensive prince outtakes set
would be very welcome. "schoolyard" would be a great song to include.
