I LOVE U IN ME appreciation thread

prince's last solid b-side. i liked this song because of the way he uses the lower register of his voice.

I used to love this song when I was a kid. Still love it but don't listen to it as much as I used to.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

too good to have been relegated to the B-side of Arms of orion, or whatever shit it was. I love it when he plays this one live.

great song and i have fond memories of calling up the wrecka stow asking what the b side 2 the arms of orion was ..

me: hello i was wondering if u can tell me what the b side 2 the arms of orion is please

sales clerk: hang on a minute (pause) i love u in me. BUT DON'T TAKE THAT LITERALLY!!!

did i mention she was a female clerk? falloff

but his last great b side is rock n roll is alive
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

If you got the equipment on your computer; why not speed it up until the vocals sound like Camille and tell me what you think of the song then.

Used to play this a ton of times as well as the entire 19-minute Scandalous Sex Suite when I was on college radio back in the day.

Strangest time I played I Love U In Me was right after a recorded sports report on a Saturday evening around 6-7 p.m. Shocked some of those who were at the station at the time.

Ah, good times, good times.

Ah man! I remember that at the Point to bro - a magical moment indeed. It was soo cool cos i remember singing every word at the top of my voice and everyone around us was like 'how does she know that song?!' it was my fave song at the time and I never thought there wud be a chance he would sing it at the concert. Its that sort of magic thats brings us back to see the little purple pixie in concert.

Damn U Prince - why'd u have to treat us bad?..when you know we love you?! sad twocents pout pout pout

I totally agree!! now that is the butter melting voice. I can hear it in my head as I'm typing this. I remember a long time ago him being asked y he doesn't sing more in his natural (low) voice & I think he said cuz it hurts. I luv his voice anyway - but that low singing voice reflects his image imo so much.

You're right, this was his last great b side. Beautiful.

It's a decent song, imo, but it's elevated by the simple fact that it's another one of Prince's gender-bending song titles, like Jack U Off and If I Was Your Girlfriend. I love when Prince challenges mindsets about gender and sexuality. And then there's the fact that it's the b-side to a Batman song.

I love this song.

But, I have to admit: When I first read the title on the back of the cd box, I thought it was his 'coming out' song.

It's a great song but the analogy always makes me cringe a little. Surgery and love making don't belong in the same sentence! confused
The opening line does me in though... cool

Exactly. The unfortunate simile basically destroys the song. Sex and surgery? That's repulsive. lol

Pay attention people. great song. and surgery is elegant and precise. Some people like lovemaking this way, its not meant to be gross. just makes a point about how she makes him feel like she has his pleasure down to a fine art. what a sentiment!
