Yes, I can be moved to tears easily. I feel things so deeply that my eyes just get full and before you know it I am crying. It used to bother me, but I overcame it and people who know me best love that quality about me. Prince's music is something that I love and so it moves me to tears quite often. I cry with excitement at concerts too.

I'm the exact opposite. I won't cry unless someone smacks me in the face or something. Sometimes it bothers people how little emotion I can show over things. That's why it surprises me when I well up sometimes.

He could take me to a different place in heaven and I could get all melancholic but I never cried. His music makes me tingle, shout, fierce, happy and sad but never cry.

But you don't just have to be 'sad' to cry...

No, that's true, I know what you mean. I have to admit that I don't cry a lot, it just hurts like hell and I get a headache of it (and I avoid sad things). And Prince's music makes me feel good, very intense, even the sad songs but I couldn't cry because of his music.

I cry when laughing though but that's different.

Hi CJ

Well, that's really 'bad' crying, real heartbreak crying, none of us like that one!! I suppose when I say cry, I mean tears from intensity or even happiness, maybe more than blubbering my eyes out lol

And, I LOVE that kind of crying, with laughter wink

Yes! It was June 24, 2002 in Chanhassen, Minnesota at Paisley Park or Prince: A Celebration 2002/Xenophobia.

I always wanted Prince do do an acoustic only set, just him and a guitar or piano. When Prince took the stage and started playing acoustically, my heart stopped for 1,000th of a milisecond. When the strings started on "7" I cried silently and covered my face. People around me were asking me if I was all right and I said, "This is my dream concert."

happy anniversary ..i still can't belive it's been 6 years now since that magical week
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Sometimes it snows in April gets me every time. I went out with a lad but we were just so close as friends. We were only in high school and because his big sister liked Prince, he used to steal her posters from her bedroom wall and give them to me. We were told off by the maths teacher quite alot for singing Prince songs in class.

He died falling from a warehouse roof, he was just 13. If you look on utube the song, there is a message for David 'O'. The version of the song on the One Nite Alone cd gets me wimpering every time because prince himself at the end of the song gets a little emotional.

The part of princes music that always chokes me up is the high vocal part of purple rain just after the solo and before the orchestral part at the end. Its that culminated with the look prince does when hes singing it he really knows how to convey pain with his eyes its a beautiful thing really well composed.

How about you?

His vocals turn me off... I think he sounds extrordinary unsincere when he tries to put emotion in his singing/performance... He's like a bad actor... lol

I cry when I hear God (vocal). I cry and think, OMFG why did he do this piece of crap song? I love the instrumental but the vocal version makes me tear up just as if someone cut onions (or the cheese) next to me. Maybe his worst song ever, so that causes me to cry like a baby.

Seriously, when Prince played the song Purple Rain here in L.A. in 1994 at the Universal Amphetheatre, I remember the entire audience tearing up because of the emotion. I don't remember what had happened, but it may have been that the city was rebuilding after the huge earthquake 3 months earlier, or something, but I just remember that it was one of the most emotional moments for me at a Prince show.
The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

In musical terms the reason purple rain is so powerfull is because of the tension between the high notes hes singing and the underlying chord progression. Its like a great piece of classical music just one note composed correctly can floor you. It just goes to show prince knows what he is doing as a musician. cool

Sometimes It Snows In April - not always but sometimes wink

And God Created Woman - the part where he says "and if I never see you again, it's alright....."

3 Chain's O Gold - just because it's the worst and most embarrassing piece he has ever released.

A few times yes. Sometimes they can be tears that aren't sad though. Sometimes

they can be tears of joy and elation like when I listen to Holy River

(especially when he sings, asked my girlfriend to marry me, she said yes and

cried) or the Beautiful Ones. The time that sticks in my mind though was when

my relationship was really rock bottom and I blubbed to When 2 R in Love and

Sweet Baby.

peaceful r we inside this prayer
4 in the new world we will b there

All the time...every album has a song or two that will cause tears to spill down my cheeks...it's his lyrics, how he sings them. The music will naturally move me but the words have impact. I get so sensitive! cloud9

'Purple Rain' has me in tears in seconds, especially after seeing the live performance in London last year. And I get very emotional and teary-eyed over 'Sweet Baby' too - the line 'Better days will come you way' and the way he whispers really strike a chord...

Holy River, make me a sense of pain for Prince, because a song that it means hope was transformed and something that it couldn´t be (I guess it was the hymn of couple Mayte and Prince in those years)
Forever in my life...

Yes. ..I haven't heard absolutely everything that he has ever had produced or released. Some of the tours, albums, CDs ..I've seen mentioned here I am completely unfamiliar with ..but, yes.. of the music I have heard.. a few songs have made me cry.

'Do Me Baby' ..a song which I have always thought of as more about Love..than lust.

'Reflection' ..from the Musicology CD. Remembering simpler times ..simpler days. Sometimes ..you just want to go back. Smell the air you used to smell ..dig up a few people. wink ..."I forgot to look at the moon because ..I was too busy-y ..I was too busy-y ..looking at you" is the deepest, most romantic thing I have ever heard since verses from Stevie Wonder's 'As' ..from 'Songs in the Key of Life'.

I'll be loving you Always:
Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea
Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream
Until the day is night and night becomes the day
Until the trees and seas just up and fly away
Until the day that 8x8x8 is 4
Until the day that is the day that are no more
Until the day the earth starts turning right to left
Until the earth just for the sun denies itself
Until dear Mother Nature says her work is through
Until the day that you are me and I am you
Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky
Until the ocean covers every mountain high
Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea
Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream
Until the day is night and night becomes the day
Until the trees and seas just up and fly away
Until the day that 8x8x8 is 4
Until the day that is the day that are no more ...etc.

And 'Somewhere Here on Earth' ..from Planet Earth.
If you seek only love’s pleasure... you shall laugh..but not all of your laughter, and cry.. but not all of your tears…
